I switched to a new mobile contract (2.30 month 600 minutes, unlimited texts, 100mb data) and somehow have run out of data in just 10 days even though my history on my old account said I used less than 200mb per month...upshot is no posting at work.

Of and also it is very busy at work.

Some phones just eat data. My iphone is gobbling at twice the rate the blackberry did.

    Hello all,

I am new to these forums and thought I would say hello. I also think I'm nice!! Some points about me....

    - hopefully about to become a landlord!
    - terrified about house prices and interest rate rises. Would put our landlord plans up te spout.
    - find these forums to have a wealth of information but hate it when people get shouted down.
    - hate our current govt but they were landed with a right mess. They have bodged up the education system - I'm a teacher!

    That is all!

    Welcome :)

Friends of ours have bought a second home in the UK that is only 40 mins away from their home. Near enough to visit frequently, but far enough to feel away, in their eyes. They gathered some peeps for NYE! Very jolly, very beautiful home with character and curiosities and loads of land and views. Downside is it is over a mile down a dirt track with pot holes.

Ours would be an hour away but I am going off the whole scheme now as nothing is right..I will call it my PN moment (PN won't mind, she know's what I mean :)).

Chatted to EA's today...oh dear... you just lose the will to live....but I was very polite in my feedback report on the damp reposseessed, very overpriced flat.....I said it was damp and overpriced but thank you so much for taking the time to show us around.

2nd one was worse....we went into one of those homes where nothing has been thrown away or cleaned for the entire lifespan of the occupants.....but I think I am a woman with vision (:) ) and struggling to look into rooms piled high with junk and shuffling about being really really polite (thanks so much for letting us look around ) whilst trying not to breathe in too deeply....it was hard.

There was not one redeeming feature in the property at all, not a view, a cornice, a fireplace...nothing...and it is a late Georgian town house.

The final bit was ' Could we see the garden?' and she said ' Of course' and opened the back door to the yard (with no shame whatsover) and it was full of ripped bags of food rubbish (loads) , more junk and dog mess...but she acted like it was really normal.

I am going to have a rest from seeking for a while...maybe new stuff will come on.

I'm with foundinrates on that. I would not want my life on TV in that way.

Welcome to the NPT BigG10. What do you teach? The NPT has a particularly wide ranging wealth of information, and nobody shouts anybody down. But then we don't usually discuss house prices in here. Think of it as the debate board's sitting out room.

I wonder if teaching/lecturing is another of those mushroom/Herts/Jewish things? We have me, missk and zag. PN's done some in the past, and IIRC so has lir before she got ill. Whom have I missed out?

I have taught .....I did Guest lectures and Guest Projects for my old college about 10 years ago. Does doing reading time in primary schools count? Helped out at DD's school many years ago.

I have never eaten a truffle but something tasting of damp woodland floor isn't really getting me excited enough to seek them out.

Snap. Even appealed on the grounds that no PCN was received and lost. All very well having photographic evidence that the traffic cop had put the ticket on the car, but what happens if a passer-by removes it before you get back to the car. You lose and lose the opportunity to pay a reduced rate.

pepipoo is the forum for tickets, though there is a board on MSE.

It's not unheard of for a fellow-parker ( not sure that's a real word) who is parking illegally to pilfer another person's parking ticket and place it on their own windscreen to make the traffic warden think you've been done already.

Just be aware that the people feeding the numbers in and pressing the button may not be the most highly-motivated workers in the world or perfect at their job and are no more immune to errors than the rest of us.

And is there a better time to remind everybody of this useful post from last year on another thread (I know some of you already read it):D

when i got to australia i turned my phone on and 20 minutes later got a text saying i had used £20 worth of data. i hadn't even used it, it was just apps that were running in the background wot did it. perhaps that is your problem? once i shut them all down it stopped eating data.

    Where has everyone been?

Friend's child here for the day while friend was at work.

Another friend here all afternoon with her kids.

First friend stayed for a drink and a chat when she came to pick her daughter up.

Tomorrow I will be going into work to get stuff ready for the new term. On Monday I start back teaching, and from then on I'll only be able to post when I'm not at work. I do not have the kind of job where you can surf a forum during the working day.

Will still be on here most evenings, though, and the days I don't work, since I'm only part time.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I'm watching a film on C4+1 called Catfish. It's quite profound.

A New York photographer has internet correspondence with an 8 year old girl who is an anzing artist. Her mother sends him her work, talks to him on the phone. He then meets the girl's older sister on facebook and they fall in love. It turns out that all is not what it seems. I can't properly describe it but if it is on 4od then I'd recommend watching it. I think you'd be interested what with us being tinternet friendlies.

It has distorted my view of reality so much that I'm now trying to figure out if the actual film was real. But it's a documentary, not a film according to Channel 4.

About 10 years ago, I read a book which was a girl's diary through WW2, how she lost all her brothers one by one, was evacuatedpublished when she was a grandmother, I was totally moved by it and absorbed in it, told my friends about it etc. On the very last page, I remember exactly where I was (in the bath) I was informed that the whole thing was a work of fiction. I was utterly enraged! It still makes me feel stupid when I think about it now. Anyone can be sucked in, I guess?

I don't feel bad about the film and my online life, I know lots of you definitely exist ;) and one of my real life best friends I met on MSE. It does show that there are discrepancies that show when someone isn't telling the exact period of time.truth. I know sockpuppets and all that, but I would still trust my gut after a certain period of time.

Sorry, big post, good TV, tiny phone screen so no idea if i make sense or not!

My internal clock seems to be on the East coast of the US. I've only been as far west as the west coast of the UK in the last few years!

I saw your previous post and realise it is an uphill struggle however the ticket is issued in a road which neither DW nor I have ever parked and left the car as far as we know and on the day we went in to town in the morning then took the kids to a party elsewhere between 1 and 3 and went to Tesco in Hatfield some time in the afternoon or evening after the party so there is little time for us to have gone back to town. The ticket was apparently issued at 4.36pm, I guess we might have gone back to town for some reason (it was 17th November so a little hard to remember) but if we did it appears we didn't buy anything. The letter did not come with any photo graphic evidence of the offence and I believe that they always take a photo of the car with the ticket on it so I will ask for this.
    I think....

    Thank you!

He is so funny, and such a positive little person. His joy at being alive is immense. He is a real scruff, and his coat will change a bit as he gets older bit I love him all scruffy.
