for those with a kindle, the price is right!

Trying to figure out if my android smartphone can read things like that!:)

Cheers zag, duly downloaded by DH as he's got to go to the States twice in the next few weeks so ideal plane reading.

My Mum and nephew got a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas, another nephew got a Nexus. I'm seriously tempted now I've played with one for a couple of hours even though before I thought they weren't for me.

It's been a total paradigm shift in library land. A year ago everyone wanted to know how to use a laptop, now they want classes in how to use a tablet.

My mum got a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas...so far it has only been used to play Angry Birds, something she has been wanting to do for ages as it is the 'in' thing!

Mind you, this is the same 70 year old who decided to give a Jeigerbomb (sp?) a try last night and ended up loving them, James had to remove the bottle as she loved them so much...who said you had to grow old gracefully? :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

If she liked a jaegerbomb then the next step is a hand grenade (like a jaegerbomb but with another shot glass in it which you fill with tequila). Then once she's bored of that move into clusterbombs (as hand grenade but add a third shot glass with sambuca).

I've had truffle in the odd thing, and I can't say I'm fond of it. Chocolate truffles on the other hand... :)

What Nikkster said. Truffles are too delicate for me to appreciate.

I once fancied mushroom omelette to steak. What do I mean once, I still do.

Maybe allthesss is right and I should have got that tablet- but it sounds like too many gadgets. I'll see if I can download a kindle reader for android.

What does the kindle app actually do? Is the book actually downloaded or is it read over wifi?
Looks like it "takes over" your phone.I dunno maybe all apps do!

They do to an extent, however I'd be extremely worried effectively installing software that was meant for another brand onto my phone, or am I being too picky?

I always wondered how much truffles actually cost ... it was on my list of "things to Google one day".
    :)

    Any NPs ever:
    1) Seen a truffle?
    2) Tasted a bit?

There are 2 sorts of truffle, white and black. White are the more expensive and the biggest one dug up in Piedmont each year is traditionally auctioned off for charity AIUI, hence the high price.

You can buy a small jar with a black truffle in it for a few quid. They are very nice with eggs and a little goes a long way. Truffle oil is a waste of time and money IMHO.

I've had truffles (both sorts) a fair few times but I've only cooked with them 3 times, always black truffles. Once chopped finely over pasta with olive oil and garlic which was quite nice, once in a stuffing that I used to make beef wellington for a mate's 30th birthday which was amazing and finally as part of a mixture with ceps and normal mushrooms that I used to stuff cabbage leaves. The last way was frikkin awesome as the kids say these days. Recipe on request and it's not thatexpensive for a luxury as you pad out the truffles with the other mushrooms.

They taste to me a lot like the floor of a forest smells. You know when you sit down in woodland on a warm late-summer's day and you play your fingers in the leaf mulch that is starting to break down into soil and you get that quite subtle but very distinct earthy smell? Truffles taste of that smell. Yum!!!

It lets you read kindle e books. the book is downloaded on your phone.

And not all apps take over your phone! :)

Toying with idea of tablet now. But as car insurance is due in 3 weeks, tablet is on back burner :(

I have a Kindle, so I do not have that issue, but I think that I would trust Amazon's software. They sell the Kindle at cost price, so as to sell more e-books. It is very much in their interests to have a reliable piece of software that runs on android and iPhone devices, as that is far simpler for them than selling the hardware for no profit. I have not heard of lots of complaints about the software, and I am reasonably sure that they have produced new software suitable for the devices it is being run on, rather than some dodgy port of the Kindle software.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
