I'm waiting for delivery of a James box set - first announced 2 years ago, ordered october last year. There's been an ongoing delay with the release - supposed to be yesterday. Hasn't been dispatched yet! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Brrrrrrrr.
They should be here soon with the part. I might well light wood burner before then.
BUTtie very repair or tweak has had a further is that our cylinder is so huge it takes a day to warm up. So I have at surely extortionate expense had the immersion on since the boiler ground to a halt yesterday.0 -
I took an amazing picture of the kiwi, dh and big dog last night. Well, big dog is a bit blurry, but kiwis face is totally hilarious. If FC were still about I would send it to her to smudge out dh's face so I could share the kiwis hilarious one.0

We have a problem with our gas heating. Actually, the problem is with the meter. However, the outcome of the problem is no gas.
I have to go to a meeting after work, so hopefully that will be in a warm room. However I hope it is fixed before I get home, as I'll be cold from the journey & will want to warm up!It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Go for a drive with the car heater on, or come and snuggle up with me and we can keep each other warm.0 -

Difficult choice!
Just put the papers in the post to switch our mortgage to a 5-year fix with the co-op at 2.79%, so I'm well chuffed.
This round is on me. :beer:0 -

It seems to me that having a cylinder that takes a day to warm up is not sensible. Your system should generate enough heat to warm the cylinder in a much shorter time. How long does the immersion take?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The main reason to try and resolve amicably and successfully is because......well...it's obvious.....we want the system to work. I lost faith in the contractors on day one when I overheard some stuff, but, despite frustration on both sides the main guy is trying to ge things right, and on that I have been pleased. However, more fundamentally, what we have trouble having faith in now is the system itself, the machinery etc. It's going to take,...well, some period of working with out fault or rubbing on the tummy to convince us otherwise. And when it has normal mechanical needs I imagine we shall have to resist the technophobe urge to conflate those with 'more failure'.
I am sure that the starting point is to hire a really good expert to check the system over. If it has been correctly installed, then it comes down to the boiler itself, which is cutting-edge technology and therefore likely to be somewhat unreliable.
How did you decide to use this type of boiler, and who specified the system for you? It does not seem an obvious choice for technophobes. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

To put that in perspective, we have a huge Megaflo hot water cylinder that is around 2 meters high, and that gets hot within an hour of the system being started up. Bear in mind that we don't have to heat all the hot water in it in order to get enough hot water for most purposes. That is because hot water rises to the top of the cylinder, and the hot water is drawn off from the top. So, when I say that ours is hot within an hour, I just mean that we are able to get as much hot water as we need within an hour.
I wondered whether LIR has a more complicated system with solar panels and a heat store? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I can't ATM comment any more on this because I think things are about to get a whole lot crosser at the wreck.
I have now cried and demanded they sort out some form of temporary heating pronto.0
