Don't know how it is in CoE, but don't you celebrate/remember the deceased on All Saints Day, 1 November?
For some the date is 'there', not concsiously remembered just impossible to forget.
For a few years our local church had an All Saints day service when you could add the names of those you wanted to rememebr to be read out in the service. It was lovely, peaceful not maudlin.0 -

This song goes for all our children, whatever issues there may be, which was my thinking while writing it! All children in this video are between 10 and 15.
CK
and the Dutch composer and producer who actually did write the song? Goes by the name of Tjeerd Oosterhuis. Did you steal his prize as well as his glory?0 -
Changing the subject completely, kiwi fruit with teeth just hopped up on the sofa by himself. No where is safe!
He learned sit last night, very, very quickly. He has been offering sit for ages, so while I was not going to train it (it makes other things slightly harder to shape) it would have been churlish not to. It does mean though he has set the schedule of 'school' starting now, Which is about the right time.
He is really stubborn, he knows 'no!' but usually ignores it..

I think the date is there for most spirit. I think one of the huge strengths of religion are dates like all saints where you can remember and grieve but also...not become 'personally' defined by grief, But rather be reminded its an emotion all will suffer somehow sometime, collectively you cannot avoid that.
Dh and his siblings allowed themselves to be somewhat defined by the personal impact on them, the isolation, the loss. These are real, vald an important features of loss, but......as time goes on we owe it to ourselves to le it become a smaller part of the memory than the life the lasting impacts of the life ( rather than the death) and I think, that while normal in the early years of grief, it's helpful to not develope black days in calendars...days which become bogeymen or depressive crescendi.0 -
Great fun on halloween !
Our stairs do a half turn, at the turn there is a window that has a wrought iron curtain rail and loops either side. After 6 years it still has no curtains, drapes or anything else, because I can't think what would look right. The bare rail looks wrong but I haven't removed it because a bare window would also look wrong.
Would you dress it with something non functional perhaps?
We have a window on the landing over the stairs which I do not worry about as one day it will be gone, but that will leave it dark as dark can be! I don't know if in the future when we extend one of those light tubes might be discreet enough to put in over the stairs.0 -

See, westie is clever, he kept it to himself.
Kfwt is bouncing off the walls with his acheivemnt. I popped the chooks away at half three, and kiwi fruit with teeth and the other two came with me. My habit is to leave the other two in the main farmyard, so I have been leaving all three there, but kiwifwt scrabbled under the chicken wire to come with me. Kinda cute, but will become annoying.0 -

Whenever food is involved, he can be VERY clever!
He's got a new favourite telly program, it's called The Ooglies, a cbeebies program I believe. It's got lots of bells and honks and poings and boings and whistles...he loves it.0 -
I can't keep up with you lot.
Have managed to work out LIR is no longer freezing (shame it has taken so long - not sure I could last in the cold as long as you have...)
That said, I wanted to post this:
I thought it was quite glorious, in a similar way to the heathrow video Generali posted recently.
I'm off to try & carry on coping with life & its numpties. Hopefully back soon...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Dunno why I can't embed the video.
