I'm ill at the moment, and the above is something that's very true.

As this doesn't come up on Google (and I don't think any of my staff are NP), I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in February. I know I'm possibly going to need surgery in the near future, but the treatment in itself is tiring, even after three months from treatment finish.

On a brighter note, it's my birthday today, so I'll be heading off out this evening

CK sorry to hear this. The treatment is tiring and I know people who have tried to run their own business at the same time as this and found it difficult. Can you step down from pro-bono and council business until you are better?

There's nothing to stop you standing again in the future, plus as the amounts are relatively low even if paid, it is more important that you focus your efforts on your family and your business. I know that you care about the people you help, but you will be more use to them in the longer term if you can come back fit and healthy and not run yourself into the ground while under treatment.

On a much, much happier note, I also wish you a very happy birthday.

Lots of illness about. A mate is dying (I think) of cancer right now. He's pretty old and has had a good life so far but I think he's starting to get a bit annoyed with everyone else's positivity in the face of the likely, if not yet inevitable.

On a more positive note I am now a NEIP, a Not Especially Important Person as I am now Club Secretary of the local amateur side. They're a big club I think. My kids play in the junior sides.

Sad to hear that CK and hope you are getting the best treatment available. You have to put your health first and fit work in and around without over stretching yourself as much as possible and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

There are a lot of bad (whooping type) coughs about. DD has been under the weather since going back to school 3rd week in August and I have been suffering for over six weeks now. I blacked out week before last coughing but only the once, had a constant pain from a bruised rib coughing and caught a lung infection last week which was the point I called the Dr and I still on anti biotic which has cleared the lung infection up.

It's horrible and hard to do much phisical work at all and why I'm hanging around here more in the day time and pestering you lot :)

Doozer have a look at the comments at the bottom of this link and see if it seems failure with your son as it's rife this year.

I'm lucky enough to have never had what I would call an illness I'd class as life threatening. I have however been a carer for someone diagnosed with a potentially terminal illness, & have had to watch someone going through the kinda treatments you mention CK.

Look after yourself - slowly but surely.

I never cease to be in awe of those who've had to undergo such treatments, & their manner of coping.

I live in dread of youngest getting colds, especially ones where coughing is a feature. He, unfortunately, does not have the constitution of an ox and what is a minor cold in others, usually turns into a full blown medical emergency for him.

Middle son's band are playing at the weekend, the member who was struggling with his mental health has declared himself fit to play (much to another band members surprise) because it distracts him...means middle son's new drumkit gets its first outing!*

It's not brand new but is a def upgrade from his previous starter kit and it comes with a history...it was used by one of the bands who supported the Darkness this summer!

*16th birthday present bought between the whole blooming lot of us, with contributions ranging from as little as £5 upto £50 or more instead of him having a party or the band having a studio day.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

He's okay. I am not one to panic at all in stressful situations but he had what would be an asthma attack - if he had asthma - in the chemist after we saw the doctor. I've not seen anything like it before, He was distressed, his breathing was upsetting me, plus the fact that he seemed to be very disorientated and was saying that things weren't real. had we been at home I think I would have called an ambulance :o

We went back to the doctor, who was surprised by the deterioration. He put him on a nebuliser and that improved things. He is very wheezy still, indeed, has an inhaler and antibiotics and hopefully will improve, if he does it again, they would consider admitting him. I'm keeping him close and giving him lucozade to coat his throat and keep the cough down.

The doctor was querying asthma on the first visit but there's no real history. If he is still getting wheezy after the antibiotics then he said he would look to diagnose, but school have said that something has been going around so I shall keep my fingers crossed for 'just' a respiritory tract infection.

It was me that wanted H. He is awful in a crisis but I was frightened :(

A pretty carp day in all. :(
