Just got back to the office!
We've had a brilliant day today, got loads of work done, and somehow managed to get all of management into one place!
If YBM is still around, this is for him, as I promised him 2 months ago!

Another way of posting a picture is to select it, copy it, and then paste it into a message. Doesn't seem to work from a phone though.0

He could probably get a job as a 'quant' with an investment bank with his qualifications. If he's frugal he could retire in 5 years. A starting salary of $250,000 for a really good and suitable stats PhD isn't unheard of. With his qualifications he should start on about $50,000-80,000 and expect an absolute minimum of the same again in bonuses. After a year that would be more like $150,000 base and up to $500,000 including bonus. Year 3 or 4 could well see $1,000,000 in total flowing into silvermoped's bank account if things go well.
It's not challenging work as such but it is a challenging environment and a few years doing that could set him up for life to do something fun.
ETA I do mean $ not £.
i walked through a floor of an investment bank a couple of months ago, and literally no-one was surfing the internet or mucking about. they were all staring at spreadsheets. seemed like hell. i thought the point of a job was to find different and increasingly creative ways to avoid doing actual work, and certainly if you are going to do work forgodsake don't actually be productive!
admittedly all i do is stare at spreadsheets these days, but i am at least allowed to get a cup of tea every now and then.0 -

That's because it's a bear market. Not literally of course but we have bear market conditions.
In a bull market you'll see much more larking around but still very little web surfing.0 -
Quote isn't working for me!
quoting: CK's pic (which looks like a meet up of a car owners club!)

New Derren Brown show tonight on channel 4 folks:

Looks fun.
I think I'll have to wait to catch it on E4 or something later in the week - I'm going to this tonight:

Recently bought tickets for the following tours for next year:
Derren Brown (may)
Bill Bailey (June)
Have seen that Reg D Hunter & Julian Clary are touring next may too. Julian Clary was fun last time, so wouldn't mind. Never seen Reg D Hunter, but he invariably cracks me up, so would like to go.It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Well, that's another week's income banked.... unless the firm go to the wall
I've been laid off from so very many firms over the year that each day as I drive home I think "That's another day banked"..... I seem to find the ones that are on their way under..... and I think I just did that again.... watch this space over the next 1-2 months I guess.
"Not boverd"" as they say. Been there before, got fistfuls of T shirts ..... know the score.0 -
