Do we have to do the Belgian thing again?

Add Audrey Hepburn and adopted sax to the list from me ( same as last time probably) oh, and Rubens ( which isn'tspelled right but cam't see what to change. Probably add a vowel.)

    Eddie Merkx!!!!!

You have Rubens spelled correctly I think.

Oh and add Reny Margritte to the list if we're doing artists.

:D 13 gallons of apple juice today to be turned into cider. However, we don't drink that much cider so, any advice on preserving the apple juice properly so we can keep it?

Gently boil it down to a concentrate, add sugar (it's a preservative) and KMS (cream of tatar should do the same job instead - also a preservative).

Put into sterilised bottles and give the whole thing a botulism boil.

That's how you make apple squash. Actually I have no idea if apple squash works but this is great with orange and lemon. You might need to add some lemon juice to the mix to add acidity.

Loads of famous people's parents were from there.... Kirk Douglas, Yehudi Mehuhin, Ralph Lauren.

Irving Berlin was from Belarus too.

Isaac Asimov nearly was, he was born right near the border.

Well the day turned out pretty nice weather wise and we did our second 'this has got to be the final grass cut of the season' for this year. Last year when it was so warm we had 3 or 4 final cuts.

I also managed to get rid of some of the old wood from the kitchen refit to a freecycler who wanted it to convert his transit van into a 'sleeper' and got a nice email from the sukkah lady offering to come and prune my laurel again next year.

On the downside our bedroom tv has stopped working, I think it was from about the first or second year of LCD TVs and had an unusual 30 inch screen and despite looking dodgy has lasted from March 2006 so it will be sad to see it go. I took it to bits but the only bit I know anything about is the main power fuse and that was intact.

Does no one else find cider (and apple juice) too sweet to drink?
    I think....

I dislike cider. Not the sweetness, but rather the slightly rotten taste that follows it.

Just tried to take my pills with dh's ear pressed against my throat to hear them rattle. He says from the outside they sound like popping candy does when in your own mouth, but he annot hear them after I have swallowed them either.

    and home.

Plane landing (Heathrow terminal 5) to front door in 70 minutes, I think that is a record. No queue at all through passport control.

DS1 came home on easyjet a few days ago and had to wait nearly 2 hours to get through passport control at 11.30pm at Luton!

That's good going! I take it you got picked up at the airport to get back so quickly. I can get a bus from Heathrow bus station that goes very close to my door but even I wouldn't be able to get back that quickly.

Mind you the fare's only £2 (or less with an oyster card).
So is your journey door-to-door longer than the 8 hours it takes me to drive to Glasgow?
