Does that mean it might still be in the sorting office? I'm wondering if it were put through the wrong door by mistake. It wasn't our usual postwoman.

Well, our usual post woman delivered the post today but no parcel. No call yet from the sorting office.

I'll wait until tomorrow to give them a chance to do a proper investigation and then go down there. Good job I'm off work this week.

I went again to the sorting office today not having heard anything and left my details with another person there who promises me a call on Monday.

    We'll see...

I'm doing all the leg work here.

Still no call from the local sorting office so I called again this morning. Spoke to the original person I first spoke to a week ago. She said her manager had promised he would call me but has now gone on holiday for two weeks. I felt a bit sorry for her.

It turns out, it is my word against the postie's. They say they have it on their system as delivered and as far as they are concerned, that is that.

Good job it was only a £10 item (including P&P) and not a £100 item. I'm a bit miffed to tell you the truth. Nobody will accept responsibility and I'm out a tenner.

    Bah!

    who is 'they'?
The staff or manager at the DO?
  • When I had a Special Delivery item which said it had been delivered when it wasn't (at least not to my address), I also went to the delivery office and gave my details so the duty manager could ring me back. Needless to say, i never heard anything from them.

Fortunately my problem was sorted by the company I ordered from sending me another item, but it has left me feeling that Royal Mail really can't give a t**s about their customers. When I initally tried ringing the delivery office (having spent ages actually finding their number), they never answered the phone, and when they promised to ring me back once I went in and saw them, they never did. If my company treated its customers like that, we'd soon be out of business.

Custardy - 'They' is the woman I spoke to at the sorting office this morning. She has been really helpful and has escalated this up to the Customer Services department because she thought they might be able to narrow it down to which postie delivered by finding out whose 'gun' had scanned the barcode on my parcel. Unfortunately, they had some staff in from another sorting office on the day my parcel went missing so it's not possible for them to tell exactly who delivered.

I will order another item and she advised me to make a complaint through the Royal Mail complaints department. I'm not holding out much hope.

The manager at the local SO is on holiday for two weeks.

I hold a small amount of hope that whoever received my very fetching size 16 cotton shorts is going to put them back in the post marked 'Not known at this address' and they will go back to the sender who I have asked to keep an eye out.

She hasnt escalated it to customer services really
    just to a line manager
I would file a complaint with customer services yourself, escalate if needs be depending on the response
complaints via CS have to be addressed(no pun) by the DO.
the computer system flags them, registers when they are read and what resolutions are offered
never hurts to know the sector managers name for your area.
If you can find that out,an email to him/her can often get a very quick resolution.
The SM for Edinburgh is a pitt bull and creates a flurry of activity from managers he contacts/speak to
