    Hello people!

Right I'll try again with the list (although I'm tired so my brain still isn't quite on form..)
Vodka (for my stepdad's homemade birthday present - chilli vodka!) ~£10
Bottle for said vodka ~ £2 Ikea?
Foundation - £23 - I'm aware this may seem like an unnecessary expense when I can buy a bottle for a few pounds, but it lasts me a long time and I've persisted trying to find a 'high street' foundation that I like and failed. My skin is quite fussy, this can be my one guilty pleasure! :o
Haircut - £35 - I'm starting to look like George Michael again :rotfl:

This comes to a total of £70 (will actually be just under as the vodka is £9-something and I'm sure the bottle is £1-something)

I have £10 left in my purse Birthday money and also still have a £10 capital bonds voucher from work so will put these towards my foundation

So out of £100 I have £50 left - I did have to buy a present for my friend whose birthday shindig is on Saturday (her actual birthday was last year, this doesn't go against my homemade present doodah) but I cheated and am giving her some socks and bracelets that I actually got for my girly friends for Christmas and never got around to giving them so have kept most of the socks myself and wrapped the others up for her! That should save me some extra looking and some pennies too! :D I suppose I will also have to pick up some booze for the party, not sure what / how much yet though!

The other thing I really could do to buy is some supplies for my jewellery making - I really want to get it live on etsy this month (or by the end of feb at least!) but for this I need to buy silver etc. I am getting a reasonable amount of overtime this month which was going into the holiday account as per the grand 2013 plan, but I'm not sure whether I should take say £50 of this (it's around £250) and buy supplies rather than take it out of my monthly 'pocket money'. I would be left with nothing if I used this, and as I should hopefully make some money back I can pay the holiday fund back later in the year. I really think it would be a good way of extra income, and one that I enjoy, I just need the cash injection. I'll mull it over but think this is probably what I will do! Need to figure out how much my materials will come to first though.

Got a surprise £10 Sainsbury's voucher in the post yesterday for registering with the online services of my health insurance (that I get 'free' through work) which was nice to open!

Shame I forgot to take it to Sainsbury's with me yesterday...

This is going to be in short form because I am POOPED.

    - Payday today, less overtime than I thought, after deductions I was left with around £140 (O/T not pay !)
    - Was 5 mins late for work - decided to take this occurrence to tell my boss about my lack of sleep, he was very understanding & has been nicer to me all day than he has for a bit (I think my lack of sleep is telling on my work)
    - Paid £230 off OD1, need to do calcs to figure out if I can transfer anything else across
-Spent £98.50 on jewellery supplies (EEEK)
    -Transferred £120 to petrol account
    -£90 car insurance

    Need to:
    - Transfer £9.99 from joint (I bought A LOT of teabags) - will do this now
    - Tot up see if there's any extra spare money I can put to OD1
    - Pay 20p's into bank

Got to go to supermarket tonight. Erg. Meal plan done though so will be quick at least but man alive I am tired!

    Quick update:

Bought some facewipes at asda so spent £4 - joint owed me £9.99 so transferred £5.99 back and paid this off OD1

Also today rounded my account down 78p - will take this from my £100 leaving me with £99.12 left for the month

Need to buy the vodka and bottle for stepdad's present, give it time to infuse! This means a trip to Ikea so will see if OH wants to go Saturday, there's a Boots there too so will be able to get my foundation hopefully, or I'll be going to my friend's birthday with a naked face  this won't do haha. We shall see what he says!

Also managed to get to sleep for around 12 last night  although I did wake up at 3ish but forced myself back to sleep again! Still only 6 1/2 hours but a damn sight (is this the right one? is it site? I dunno!) better than the 2 or 3 I've been getting lately. Tried Fudge's method think it works :) think it's cos your mind can't think about anything other than relaxing? So thanks Fudgefund :D

Think that's all for now, going to go eat my quiche, drink my tea and read my book, not getting much chance at home with making my cousin's bag - that's tonight's plan hopefully I'll have it pretty much done by bedtime :)

    Have a nice afternoon everyone!

Hi Scuff, just having a much needed catch up with your thread.
Rubbish to hear you're not sleeping well and why. Have you tried having a bath before bed and reading a book? Cliche but it used to help me when I couldn't sleep. Don't they say a milky drink helps as well? Although not sure if that's right as all milky drinks I can think of are tea, coffee and hot choc - which would all make me WIRED before bed ha.

Happy birthday to you too, hope you had a great day!
  • Just caught up with you, glad to hear my sleeping tips are working, being able to switch off your mind from all the rubbish is really important. I've recently started life drawing classes, and I'm really enjoying them. Not because I'm any good at drawing, just because I'm concentrating so hard on what I'm doing I can't think about anything else. It's really liberating.

A small note on JSA; (I have no desire to become the benefit bore of MSE!) there are two kinds, income based and contribution based. The income based one will include all the income from the household when working out if you're entitled, so if you have a partner working you're unlikely to be able to claim. However, if you have paid enough into the system you can claim JSA contribution based for a maximum of 6 months, and your partner's income will not be included. I hope this makes sense.

I totally agree with spending more on the right foundation, rather than buying a cheap one and looking like an orange. I use Stila powder which is a bit pricey but managable on a budget. It's just not an area young women should be scrimping on. :rotfl:Good luck with the trip to Ikea - if you're like me you'll need blinkers on going through the bit at end without picking random things up.

Few days since I’ve posted – I’ve been wanting to write a proper post but not found a big enough gap in my time to get round to it (although I’m sure I haven’t been that busy!) Really need to get back into the habit of writing every day, although I have been keeping super up to date with my spending diary & spreadsheets so all is good in the money-hood! Well, I’ve had a few spendy days – bought my Dad an awesome birthday card (£3.80 eeek) but he’s worth it – it’s this one, in the ‘hero’ design, so they work out how long he’s been my hero for :D I’m sure I could have done it myself but I didn’t want to risk working it out wrong! Saturday I spent £36.48 on my foundation, cotton wool, a new diary and some Sailor Jerry’s to take to my friend’s birthday party in the evening – this party was to be my downfall. Seriously never been as ill in my life (due to over indulgence, I’m ashamed to say, so I deserve no sympathy!) but it was like being a newbie drinker – OH had to come and pick me up at half 11, I was violently ill, and it carried on through most of Sunday (I couldn’t even stomach water without being sick L ) I think I’ve done some damage to my stomach – although it’s tonnes better now I still can’t eat too much before my tummy hurts – yesterday though I was in constant pain all day and even my 2 measly sandwiches at lunchtime made me feel sick L & it’s OH’s grandparent’s 45th wedding anniversary party tonight at his parent’s – they always put sooo much (lovely!) food on and I’m really scared I won’t be able to eat it all – it’s bound to cause offense if I don’t & tbh I want to eat it!! Fingers crossed I’ll be fine! It’s really not worth it though, I’d rather not drink at all!
Anyway, back to the MSE, spends on Fri & Sat leave me with £49.51 out of my £100 monthly ‘pocket money’ budget – looks a bit eek so say I have another 25 days until payday!! But my big spends have gone out (might have to postpone my haircut) & although we’re meant to be going out for a group meal next week, this should only cost me ~£20 hopefully it should be okay! Hopefully…

Oh & I finished my first make of the handmade gift year:

Which went down well, even though I had to drag myself from my sickbed to deliver it :P

    Hope everyone else is good!

Thanks fudge, re JSA it does make sense, unfortunately it also means that he won't be able to claim it as he's been a student forever so won't have paid enough in contributions! Boo hiss boo!

Didn't end up going to Ikea in the end, but I know what you mean, if I ever went on my own I'd end up spending hundreds on all those little things I'll never need (but come on they're cool and only £1.40, that's nothing right?? :o )

    Life drawing sounds interesting!!

I know for certain we have 2 packs of tealights in the cupboard, and maybe 4 of them have actually been taken out!!

I'm so hungry, was going to bob out to get lunch and investigate Home Bargains at the same time - it conveniently decided to ABSOLUTELY TIP IT DOWN from 12 til 1, and now it's back to work time, and I've had no lunch. Will have to get a burger when I leave, if I'm still alive then!
