Well I had a really productive evening yesterday, OH fell asleep for the entire evening so I bulldozed through my list I'd had all week!

    - Wrote proper post on here :)
    - Made some peanut butter cookies :) (using up peanut butter I bought for some ridiculous reason because I don't like it and I know I don't! Like it in cookies though :p)
    - Ate half of cookies :o
    - Made more so he didn't wake up to no cookies!!!
    - Did the ironing
    - Put a load of towels into wash
    - Cut the potatoes up into chips for tea (if OH ever decided to wake up! Also I'm not the resident chef of the flat so this is a novelty :))

I then wondered what to do now (4 hours later, rumbly tum and no sign of the dead waking!!) so I prepped some of my ebay stuff cos it was too dark to take pictures but that'll save time tonight!

THEN HE WOKE UP WAHEYYY MY TUMMY REJOICED haha so chicken sandwiches and chips (using yesterdays chicken - food shopping doesnt affect my debt busting cos it comes out of the joint but still trying to spend less on that account cos we're still a bit ridiculous and it's mainly food :o)

Made my lunch for today and got ready for bed. Zzzz

And then I woke up this morning at 8:09am. I'm usually at work at 8ish... and it's a 17 mile trip... OOPS

Yesterday was a NSD though :D means so far I've had a NSOctober!! Will be ruined tonight though, need petrol, also run out of milk at work but I'm going without tea/coffee (!!) today and think I'll just steal some from the home fridge tonight, get some fresh for Monday! (Tech conning myself into money saving :rotfl:)

Pretty good so far I think (if we pretend I was up at 6:30 )

Aren't dads great at looking out for us and helping us out of scrapes when we have harsh lessons to learn? I'd be lost without mine!

    They're awesome! Go Dads!! :D x

NSO is officially over, stupid car needing petrol to run!! So that's £30.01(bad filling skills!) for today's spends. That's all though!

    Tonight's plan is:

    - Do open book test for work course
    - Put as much ebay on as possible
    - Sleep!

    Hi Scuff,

Good luck on debt busting and trying to save!

I'm in a similar boat, similar size debt (lots of clothes and spending on things you think are inportant at uni but make no sense now you are a proper working adult!) and goal to save for a house, so let's spur each other on!

Well done on new diary :)

Thanks lea_t88! I can't believe how rubbish I've been sometimes, and now I'm suffering cos I feel like I was richer when I was a poor student! I suppose I did spend end of terms eating toast and noodles and not much else.. but still!! I've subscribed to you too :) before we know it we'll be in shiny new houses!! :j

    As for tonight's plan:
[STRIKE] - Do open book test for work course[/STRIKE] This has taken pretty much all evening, was much harder than anticipated, and now I have a headache. Ebay therefore on hold
    - Put as much ebay on as possible
    - Sleep!

Bit annoyed cos I really want this lot listed, sooner it's on the sooner it's gone! And then the sooner it's out of the way and (hopefully) into my bank!! But the test needed doing for tomorrow am so obv more important!! And then it's the weekend YAYYYYY!

Gonna take me, my headache and a cuppa off to relax before bed I thinks, night all! xx

  • Wow, when I read the opening paragraphs of your second post I thought I was reading about my own life story! Started uni the same time as you and was also tempted by the money thrown at me by the bank! Just cleared the overdraft on my student loan (ended up taking out a loan to cover this and another overdraft and two loans).

Look forward to reading your diary

Man, slept in again - til 9:30!!!!!!!!!!! need to sort this out or I'll be trying to get rid of my debts with no job... really fed up as a result. To make things worse I missed the majority of my course that the chuffing test was for, so it didnt even matter that I did the damn thing  and I'm still tired, how's that work??!

ANYWAY, back to money, I considered doing an SOAbut I don't know whether it'll be a bit confusing as basically on payday I pay money into the joint account, which covers my share of the rent, bills, food shopping etc. Basically any shared outgoings. This leaves me to pay for:

-The car (petrol, mot, insurance etc - the car itself is mine)
-Spends at work (Lunch, drinks, accidental impulse buys in Tesco [seriously how can you have impulse buys in Tesco!?], snacks etc)
    -Toiletries
-Presents (I have a weak spot for giving people presents, I think I justified it by thinking it's not for me so it's ok, but still got the money thrill :o)
    -Dentist / Prescriptions etc
-Haircuts (atm this one is a pain as I've cut off all my hair and if I don't have it cut regularly I fast look like a George Michael / Justin Beiber hybrid :rotfl:)
    -Phone
    -Random other things, Clothes etc

Since we moved into the flat (over a year ago) I've also been ridiculously bad for house things, seriously girl how many cushions does one house need?!?!

My main problem is I just like STUFF!!

The car expenses (~£220pm) I can't do anything about, without my car it's take me 2 hours + each way to get to work and I'm needed at short notice, plus the car itself is only worth about £150 so there'd be no benefit after the first month. My phone (£30) is due to change in November so I'm going to see what I can do with that then as I don't use all my minutes / messages anyway. I've already started bringing in my lunches and buying milk instead of hot drinks from the machine, and I had a self imposed toiletry ban just after christmas where I refused to buy any more until I needed them (as this is another area I used to be REALLY bad with, Boots shouldn't be allowed 3 for 2 on haircare! Evil!) and other than shampoo for OH I haven't bought any yet!!!

I've set up so £200 pm is going out to my debts, £125 to the 0% CC and £75 into my old OD, and any extra money made will go to the OD. I do have a big expense coming up out of next payday but after that I'm going to see where I am and reassess the situation (& after this spending no money pay month has passed I can see if things are working as I planned!)

    Another mammoth post, sorry!!:rotfl:

Frugal Saver it's ridiculous, I know you need money when you leave off to uni but no wonder the country's in such a state, banks giving ridiculous 'free' money out to frivolous and pretty clueless teenagers!! Although I will be honest some of my debt I was most definitely in a state to know better, and most definitely mid twenties

    List for the weekend:

    - EBAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This must must must must MUST be done!!
    - Clean out the hamster (also need to figure out a way of buying his stuff cheaper, we have to buy a bag of bedding every week!)
    - Washing (trying to be more organised with this cos I end up over loaded with no clothes, got new wardrobes which have improved things but still stresses me out as daft as it seems!)
    - Ironing (as above)
    - Try to get to £10 on Valued Opinions (at £8 now)
    - Sort out box of already bought Christmas presents, figure out what I need (although I wont be buying soon it always helps to know!)
    - Go through joint and see what we can save here / what we can put into savings that's left over (currently we manage to totally spend - sometimes more than- £1400 pm, rent is £550 but this really needs bringing down, need to figure out how we do this cos we're pretty good at batch cooking / meal planning etc [although this is a recent in past few months thing])
    - Take cancel gym letters to gym (I've had them written for 2 weeks!!!!)

We're off to a Macmillan coffee morning in the morning, that'll cost obvs but I can spare it for charity, and then I've got family coming to my dad's so might get some free food :rotfl:
Other than that it's just chilling and spending quality time with OH, watching films rather than us both sitting on our computers!!!

I also managed a 4 hour nap this eve after my oversleep :S

Well, I knew today wouldn't be NSD as I went to the coffee morning but in a ridiculous bid to make extra money I might have put £10 on an online bingo game... Online bingo?!?! What has it come to?! Anyway, needless to say I didn't win my money back...
