I'm planning on buying my meat in the next couple of weeks, thats a turkey crown and then probably a nice topside and a leg of lamb. I'll buy just as soon as I make room in the freezer for it!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hi to all. Although this is my first post, I would just like to say how inspiring you all are and it has really got me in the right frame of mind in being prepared this year. Already brought some bargins from Matalan 75% off along with the great ideas of topic hampers. I will be logging on everyday Cheers skipboyJan Grocery Challenge(updated 31/1/08) Budget£300 Spend £202.15:j0

I would be very wary of doing this - I'm on benefits and would rather not take the chance!
There's rarely anything in the deals that I'm interested in so, for me, it would be really useful to convert to Christmas savings voucher; I didnt know this was an option either so thanks Kethry!
I asked a friend who works at the benefits office today, she said as long as you're selling what you own and not buying to sell (as in buying products wholesale to sell on etc) then it's nothing to do with them. Of course you'd have to check with your office but this is from someone who working investigating fraud. Suppose if anyone should know it's her.
I sold some of the deal vouchers last year I converted to days out ones as we couldn't go where we planned to.
Anyway, I'm here to ask has anyone got a good Xmas pud recipe, also when can these be made? I always buy them
Meat I cooked my first ever Christmas dinner last year, just for the 4 of us of coursewas lovely just being at home and not dashing between relatives, well until after lunch of course. I will order mine as usual (usually do dinner in midle of Christmas and New Year for us if visiting others) from the farm shop and collect it Christmas Eve same as last year
One day I might be more organised...........

Thanks for this lil_me. I'll check with my local office; I've always shied away from ebay selling and carbooting assuming I would have to declare it as earnings. It will be great if I can sell a few things... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I have a lovely xmas pud recipe i can let you have, but it would have to be a pm because its from a book that's now out of print and i don't want to let you breach the copyright rules (its the one i've offered many others on the site). It doesn't have any suet or mixed peel in, which is a big hit with many, and is cooked via steaming, although one person i know has been experimenting with a slow cooker.
as for when it can be cooked - whenever you like, maturing is good for it but i've eaten 18 month old xmas puds and they've been lovely!!
pm me if you want the recipe!

Hi all
just been having a surf and came up with this site
http://www.northpole.com/Kitchen/Cookbook/
it is an american site so all measurements are american - but I am sure easy enough to follow for the more talented at cooking than me!!
Anyway - probably good for all sorts - present ideas, cooking with children as a christmas activity and even some xmas treats for yourselves.

Really excited about xmas shopping - done a fair bit already, got a few stocking fillers and friends presents in the sale last year. Just got the main family to get - but this is what I find so hard.
My mum never needs/wants/asks for anything - consequently she gets nightys, slippers, wine and to be honest has more than plenty of all of them. She likes practical presents, stuff for the house etc. but we've just had the house decorated and i'm all out of ideas.
Is anyone on here a practical present loving person and can perhaps help me out with what to get her? I do Avon so all the toiletries are out because my house is already full of stuff, chocolates are out, as are dvds and cds and books..............
as you can see at a total loss - does anyone have any inspiration?
