I saw ages ago that someone had posted on here that they had made sloe gin and intended to give out bottles of it as gifts. They said that they had had a problem getting the bottles though. I had the idea to do the same thing at around the same time, and had a similar problem with the bottles. Managed to sort it out though. Our local pub sells those little individual bottles of wine with a screw cap and the publican is quite happy to be saving the bottles with the tops for me. Hope whoever posted with the original problem sees this and has an equally helpful publican nearby!

:rotfl: Thought you were going to say that you decided to buy them and then you had to to drink all the wine so you could reuse them.:rotfl:

  • Hi guy's and gal's just thought I'd share this one with you...it's my birthday on monday and my brother asked me what I wanted so I said either a big tool box or 2 sheets of MDF he thought I was joking...anyway he said he would consider the tool box so I got the MDF myself cost me £31 in total for the MDF £13 for a big tin of undercoat and £10 for the gloss £0.50p for the panel pins a total of £54.50 and I have got a new loft hatch which I needed a cupboard top in my sons bedroom to put his TV on and a firesurround see picture so I don't think I did too bad really see the picture all I need to do now is undercoat and gloss as I didn't have a firesurround that's all I wanted for xmas...

  • this is my first attempt at making a piece of furniture so to speak so I am well chuffed with the way it has turned out...I used to have my own garden design business so knocking out trellis was a doodle but I've never done anything this big before...I've undercoated it today and will gloss it tomorrow then screw it to the wall and that's it finished...job well done to me...I missed having a firesurround...:D

  • There are 36 days left to christmas day and 12 days left til the 30th of the month which to me is payday...which is when I can buy my DS his main christmas present a 37" LCD HD READY TV as he has had to look after me while I was getting back on my feet or should I say foot...I am actually getting quite good with my disability now...(for those who don't know me I have been fighting cancer in my right foot for the past 5 year's which has resulted in me having the front half of my foot removed) which has been weird to say the least as you take walking for granted then when you have to learn all over again it's madness...but after being told 2 year's ago that I would never walk unaided again and been in a wheel chair for a year then on two crutches I can now walk with one crutch which has pretty much amazed everyone...I have tried without crutches at all but got sick of being in the fracture clinic cos I kept falling over and breaking something so one crutch it is from on until further notice...) anyway getting back to my wonderful son he has been a rock to me...so he got himself an xbox 360 last year so I am going to buy him an LCD HD ready TV this year cant wait to see his face...I am in the process of decorating his bedroom which had to be more thought than I realised but I got around the ladder/steps by duct tapeing carpet to them so I could go up them with 1 foot and 1 knee...where there is a will there is always away...so that is nearly finished and I also made a firesurround/ new loft hatch/ and a cupboard top out of MDF with the help of my son...my brother carpeted the garage floor with an old carpet so I could crawl about happily with my tools...and hey presto I am almost back to my old self...MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.....:xmastree:

Computerwoman, I am totally impressed!! :T :T :T what a great attitude you have, you're an inspiration.

I like the idea about using the duct tape and carpet for your steps. I love duct tape!

I used to love working with wood, installed bookshelves etc in every house I lived in but sadly in rented now so cant put screws into the wall. You've inspired me to have a go at making a freestanding shelf unit though. I have all the kit, including power tools. I think I must have been a chippie in a former life :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D
