I have iPhone4, now 5 or Samsung Galaxy note2
My Iphone 4 is just out of contract.
I had assumed it would be an easy choice to go for the iphone5, but I am now seriously looking at the brand new (in stock October 1st) Samsung Galaxy note2. This is the very large phone which attracts me because of the large screen.
Has anyone any advise. Anyone got the new Samsung.
Thanks

I've been pondering the same thing, I also have an iPhone 4 and am looking for a new phone as well, and really fancy the Galaxy Note 2 also because of the screen, I think the shear size of the Note 2 means it can't really be compared to any iPhone, but there is the android vs iOS question, and the more I think about it I really want to try android out, after watching this video having something like the Note 2 would be akin to having a computer, games console and home cinema system in your pocket.
Also as I have started using the iPhone more and more for web browsing I have come across a problem that the Note 2 has solved and that is web page menu items that require a mouse to hover over them as demoed in this video.0 -
thanks for those thoughts.
I live in Luxembourg so we are still waiting for the note2 to arrive. I think I have to curb my desires for a new phone until i can make a real choice between the two.
Not having street view on the Apple is also a big deal and Podcasts not available in Music but a seperate app. Like you I am interested in trying AndroidThere will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
Hiya,
Personally I would not upgrade my iphone4 to iphone 5, when there is not a huge amount of difference. You can do a software upgrade on your old iphone4 and its pretty much the same.
I have the first samsung note and its the best phone I have ever had. I also have the iphone, which is good, but not as much fun as the note.
At least with the note, you will have totally different settings, apps, etc. I vote the new note! You will have a blastTotal Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -

Buy the Samsung Galaxy S3 from Amazon.de for £390 delivered. Sell your iPhone 4 to cover for some of the cost. Then get a cheap SIM only contract, you would be better off.0

There was a deal around somewhere for the Note 2 at £499...So not a huge amount more, if you think the larger screen and s-pen are woth it.
I'm currently debating whether to end my contract early and grab a note 2, or stick it out til feb when it expires. Button on my iPhone 4 keeps sticking, which sucks...but I'm a little hesitant about losing all the apps and stuff I've bought and paid for already...
FWIW, the best UK Note 2 deals I've seen so far (with a decent data allowance) are on Three, £69 then £34/month, with £80ish cashback from TCB, or TMobile through mobiles.co.uk free then £31/month, plus £27 from TCB.
-anyone seen better?0 -
I tried the Galaxy Note (version 1) in a shop and didn't like it. There was some lag when using the stylus, and it's just too big as a phone. I love the S3, very big screen, very fast, still reasonable size for a phone.0

I am told and have read that there is a big difference between the note 1 and 2.
hi idiophreak,
there is a work around for a faulty home button. saw it on the weekly video podcast ipad today from the TWIT network. work around works for both devises.
settings=general=accessibility= turn on assistive touch.
this creates a on screen button (which you can move around) that acts as a home button. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

Thanks for that...but it's not completely gone yet - and there are a number of different things that make it work for a little while - you can recalibrate the home button, or wiggle a charger upwards in the socket - these seem to work for a little while.
Really, at this stage, I'd just like it to work well enough to make sure I get the full working price if I send it to FoneBank or whoever when I upgrade...0
