Just had TalkTalk activated today. Day late then it was meant to be.
Anyway, only getting 1.88 meg download speed when I was promised between 8 - 14 meg. Started downloading a 2.5GB ISO file but it has hung after 2 hours on 596MB downloaded.
Why do these crappy ISP's promise the earth but fail to deliver?
And before anyone mentions it, the ISO is a legit download.

Who were you with previously and what speed did you get? TalkTlak are cheap for a reason!
Post the line stats from your router. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Do they do DLM?0

I was with O2 Broadband before and was getting between 2-3 meg but downloads were pretty decent speeds.0 -
With your downstream attenuation figure, you could get 8MB on ADSL and possibly 16MB on ADSL2+ unless you have a noisy line. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Is it still the case that stabilisation needs to occur on a new installation?0

Worth asking them to take a look at your line speeds http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=101
I've personally found that forum very handy and their general service excellent so far.0 -
I think your broadband needs to stabilise for 10 days. Just leave your router on and re-check after 10 days.0

You can read about TalkTalk's DLM system here You will see if any changes are made by looking at your SNR figure but your speed is very low for a starting point for your downstream attenuation figure of 27dB.
Leave the router power up and monitor your SNR for a couple of days and then if no change, you will need to get them to override your profile. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Er, listen to it-any crackling or hiss? Or dial 17070, select option 2, Quiet Line test. If present, report it as a line fault to your line rental provider-not as a broadband fault. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
