...Mr LW has also said he'll see about getting some decent dark chocolate for me; he's done this before, and I can have a square a day (have to make a note, or I forget to have it):rotfl:....

Oh if only I had to be reminded to eat 1 square a day - I only buy the little bars so I can eat a whole one without feeling too guilty! Anyway, now it's a superfood I know I'm boosting my diet ;):D

Miserable day today here - it keeps raining.

Re the missing girl - I couldn't believe it when I heard that she was playing outside in the street at 7pm last night - my kids wouldn't even have been in the back garden at that time in the dark when they were 5! They'd have been in the bath & getting into bed.

I like the idea of watercress soup; but I think it'll need to be watercress-and-something or Mr LW won't go for it. I wonder if I can find a recipe for watercress-and-tomato; he'll eat more or less anything with tomato it!:D

I had some Watercress and Celeriac soup once and it was lovely :)

    this one looks ok :)

    Afternoon all,

Nmlc, big hugs Re: your husband. Always make sure you have an escape plan if he gets out of control. Preferably family or a friend to take you in day or night and if possible some money of your own. Oh and if you have a mobile, leave it at home too.

A quiet day for me today. I'm ashamed to have to say ive done nothing yet. Just lost my mojo i think. It will return i'm sure. Good job my kids are all grown up as i'm no good to man nor beast right now. I'm always like this after the weekend. By the time Thursday comes round i am feeling a bit better... then its the weekend again.:(

Hope that whats left of Tuesday is ok, hugs all round.

    Good afternoon.

It's a change to get on here before everyone has retired to their beds. Part of the reason I post at night is that my computer loves to freeze, jump about, go slow and generally play me up in the mornings. The other part is that I am usually buzzing about like a blue a*sed fly during the day. But today is different. Today the Rev has gone to the mainland for the day and I am FREE.
I rooted around in the freezer last night and found a gammon joint I'd forgotten about, so that is roasting gently as we speak. Then I made an apple pie that is about to join the gammon. I love gammon joints, in various disguises they can last for days. Today we will have it hot with roast potatoes, veg and onion sauce, tomorrow it will be cold with jacket potatoes and salad, we're out on Thursday and Friday but Saturday we will have it with cauliflower cheese and wedges. And there will be plenty left for sandwiches and the bits that are left can go into a quiche - which may be frozen for another time. Talk about rubber chicken I think it should be rubber ham.

I've been reading about the EVOO method of face cleansing and decided to give it a go. Do you know, I scoured the town for Castor Oil and couldn't get it anywhere - none of the chemists had it, some seemed not to have heard of it but I finally tracked some down in Hol and Barratt. £9+!!! Hopefully it will last for ages and within a week I will be blooming like a peach. I'll let you know. In the meantime I can only be thankful that wrinkles don't hurt. The method calls for face cloths, I suppose that means flannels. I eyed one up in B00ts. £2.00!!! I am now about to cut up an old towel that has seen better days and blanket stitch round the edges. Really, £2.00 for a small square of towelling. My Grandmother would faint at the very idea.

Well, I must go and fish out the bits of the gas hob that have been soaking in Stardrops (I nearly typed Stardust) for the past couple of hours. I hate cleaning gas hobs. Before I came here I had an electric ceramic hob that was a joy to keep clean - ah well.

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Sorry to be back so soon, I've just read through the posts so far.

Bitsy: Finger crossed for your OH.

LW: I know you don't like green bits but a sandwich of thinly cut wholemeal bread plastered with delicious butter and filled with fresh peppery watercress is nectar. Oh, all right, put it into soup then.

nmlc: take my advice love, and start making the great escape plan.
Salt away every penny you can spare. Clear through the house making sure that you have everything you want to take with you in one place and easily accessible. Put you important documents into a case that you can just pick up and pack. Sort the whole house out and organise so that if you have time to move out in a civilised way you're not hunting around for things you want. Make lists. All this will help if the worst comes to the worst, and if it doesn't come to the worst you will feel better for knowing that you are properly organised for a swift exit if necessary.
This helped me get through some difficult times.

Just popped back in to say I have had a productive afternoon.
Managed to put quite a few winter coats on eBay along with some bras that I have bought and hardly worn and that are now too big.
Also sorted out my make up bags and ended up chucking lots of dry and sticky things away.
Also my make up bag was disgusting so I have chucked it and will treat myself to a new one from Primani.
Tea tonight is jacket potatoes and chilli out of the freezer.
Looking forward to a day out tomorrow with my db and SIL we don't often spend time with them so going to walk around town and call for lunch.
Sadly it's the funeral of that young police women who got shot in Manchester tomorrow, also it's the labour party conference so it's going to be busy.
So the day after I plan to tackle my clothes. I really could do with someone standing next to me saying get rid get rid, I am hopeless I always think I might need it in the future.
Anyway need to get on with tea, have a good evening all x

Proud Mummy Moment on a tough day - my youngest son who had a year out of school before his GCSEs has won a school prize for ICT. Im so proud of him - this was in the class where I had to intervene as he had finished all his course work for his qualification and was spending the time teaching and helping the others in his class. Now this was very noble but he revision of his own do but reflects his lovely nature x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
