OS Daily - Tuesday 2nd October 2012
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Good Morning everyone .
Thank you all for your good wishes for my brother Davy.I'm still walking on air at the moment:j .Dark and gloomy outside but warm and cosy indoors as I succumbed and put the heating on for an hour just to take the chill off.I have found that by only putting it on as and when needed I actually save money as often its just a case of once the place is warmed up it stays warm all day.I had the walls insulated a couple of years ago and its more than paid for itself

My DGS Holly is taking me out to lunch today to celebrate my brothers news(plus she likes to give me a treat when she gets her student cash through as I help her out when she runs a bit short inbetween her student finance money.:):) ) She insists, and I don't like to say no.I usually choose a two-for-one deal.Bless her, she is a good little lass and extremely good with money (I wonder who she got that from :):))She is at Canterbury (Christ Church) but at the Medway campus so she lives at home.
My cold is still at the sniffly stage so I'm hoping I can dose myself up and it will soon go.
<<Hugs>> for anyone who is down at the moment .
Take care everybody and have a great day

Morning jackie and all who follow.

Been up since 5.30am, H is travelling down to Bath again for a meet and greet and I suspect they will make a formal job offer. Wracking my brains to work out how we can relocate with H before the house is sold, not sure he will cope with us all being apart and I don't think DS will cope either. Fingers crossed they offer him the job and a good salary to go with it.

Am about to make kids lunches, have a coffee, unload DW and put BM on. Am painting today, got to crack on with it ASAP. Sooner it's all done the sooner it gets put on the market.

No idea about tea, H will be later home so probably do something quick and easy.

Hugs and spoons all round xxx

Jackie that's fabulous news about Davy :T

    Morning everyone,

    JackieO What lovely news!

    Bitsy Well done to OH.

Isn't it dark in the mornings now? Haven't been on a lot lately as my marking pile has been enormous but I am beginning to get to the bottom of it.
Today I have another busy day at work and then this evening I am going dancing.

OH and DD1 are arguing with each other constantly at the moment, it is wearing me down.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Good Morning Everyone

Wet and miserable Tuesday morning here.

Bits and pieces to do today, feeling a little more energetic than yesterday so hopefully will get things done.

Got to drop DD at the station then back home in the office. Some ironing to do and some housework. I can't do too much hoovering at the moment as my Dyson is broken - they are sending me a new one - hope it arrives soon.

Pork chops for dinner tonight, with chips and corn on the cob.

    JackieO - enjoy your lunch.
    Have a great day everyone.x

    Really inspiring blog
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I would hang back & see what the offer is - that may make the decision for you. Also, see what relocation terms they offer, as that may allow you to rent somewhere as a family while you sell your home? I guess you've looked at prices & location - maybe H could do some investigatory work with his potential new colleagues as to areas / schools etc? I know when DH lived in Cardiff for 7 months, he stayed in a Premier Inn for 2 weeks before moving into his flat and the areas where we'd seen rental properties on Rightmove were not recommended by his new colleagues (they often feature on the TV police programmes!).

Another option is maybe looking at part exchanging your home, but that might only work if you are able to buy a new property?

It's awful isn't it. And I was reading about that father who's killed his kids before committing suicide :( Really don't know why I read the news and when it's full of such awful stuff :(

If the salary isn't good enough he won't take the job, it wouldn't be worth the upheaval so we shall see what is said. Not sure they are offering relocation terms per se as he's not been headhunted.
Time will make things clear I guess. Poor !!!!!! is nervous as hell, been clock watching half the night.

A lot of companies will have relocation terms available - but they will probably only mention it when asked, so H might need to raise the thorny subject himself. I think it's up to £8k tax free but this might help: HMRC

    Fingers crossed it goes well
