Having the back and side windows replaced today and the French doors will be done on Thursday. They are all well overdue being replaced. Hopefully I can save enough for the front three to be done too .

Wet here, drizzle rather than rain though. Today will be work mainly, but am having some practical problems getting my son registered with a doctor and getting his new blue badge. They all want something with his name and address on it, but I'm his court appointed financial deputy so it all comes here to my house and they all want some photo ID. He doesn't have a passport or driving licence or anything like that because of his disabilities. I understand why the checks have to be so stringent, but it is giving us some real practical problems. Not sure how we are going to solve this so am going to ask the manager of the project for advice. His TV Licence is in his name so that covers the address........it's the photo ID that's the problem. His last Blue Badge in his photo you could see my fingers at the sides of his neck like Frankenstein bolts holding his head still! That was some years ago and won't do for this. I am hoping his Care Plan will have some photos, perhaps they will accept that.
Compared to the problems we have overcome since May this is a tiny blip and sorry to moan, I just wish life could be simple occasionally (don't we all!).
Have a good day all, especially the job opportunity and the first day back at work.

Fantastic news JackieO, enjoy your celebratory lunch.
Bitsy - what a worrying time for you all, hope it has the outcome you are looking for.
nmlc - look after yourself there.

Still a poorly house here, not feeling so sick this morning but very choked up and coughing a lot. DD also off work with the same thing. A very big thanks to DS2 I think!!

Going to have a rest now! Take care. XX
  • Good morning and I hope everyone is ok today. Much sympathy to anyone who isn't well :)

I am in work and my oven is working for me at home, pulled pork cooking and a large tray of the last of the tomatoes and some onion and garlic roasting very slowly to make chutney later.

The weather is cold and damp and I had to turn the heating on for 1 hour this morning, at least we managed to hold out until October.

I have just managed to rescue a load of coloured card which was being thrown away in work so my granddaughter will have a lovely supply for home made Christmas decorations. It was slightly tatty at the edges so wouldn't go in the printer but as she will use it to cut out shapes, it will be fine.

Talk of dark chocolate yesterday reminded me that Aldi do an excellent 85% cocoa in a large pack containing 5 small bars for just 99p. For anyone who prefers their cocoa a little less strong, they do a 70% too.

I hope everyone has a super day

    morning all!

been absent for a couple of days - busy at work and not a lot OS going on.

    Day off today:j:j

DH is off to the docs to get his back checked out. I'm going to make a batch of apple crumbles - I did the fruit a couple of days ago but not had time to finishe them off. Second load of washing is in the machine - showery here. First lot is on the airer.

DH and I are just watching the doorstep lenders programme that was on last night:mad: I really dont know how they sleep at night targeting the most vulnerable people.

The post has just come - I've ordered some new gloves to help with my reynauds. They contain silver and are recommended by the Reynauds society so fingers crossed they will help me this winter.

Bitsy - hope it goes well for DH x

    JackieO - good news:) x

have a great day all, back later x

    Morning all :)

I have been missing for a few days...we had no Internet over the weekend, though it suddenly started working again inexplicably.

Had a lovely weekend and then a rubbish Monday. Just felt like everything went wrong. Still got a niggly cold and my monthly visitor on the way too. Achey back and head. Still, Tuesday is my day off so I am just going to have a bit of a sick day today - I don't intend to change out of my pyjamas!

Got to sort out the freezer as, despite my best efforts, it's a big jumble again. Promised OH I'd scrub out the dishwasher as it's a bit gross. Will do a couple of loads of washing and have a big tidy up but apart from that I will be mostly on the sofa! Should try and go for a gentle walk on the treadmill....I know it will make my tummy and back feel better and lift my mood but it's hard to get the enthusiasm!

Hope everyone else is ok. I am rubbish remembering names but the poster whose OH thinks a member of the school may have died...I hope that's not the case :( we had a student die earlier this year and it was horrendous for everyone.

    Morning all,

RR yes it was me, it's lovely
Nmlc nobody should be aloud to shout at you, don't put up with it
Hillstep love the sound of the dream
Bitsy hope things go well today, I know how it feels to be all unsettled and trying to sell the house.
Halight, any news on the job front
Hope the poorlies feel better soon

Feeling like I need a good sort out. Going to start under the bed. Loads of makeup and toiletries that need using up or chucking out and my clothes are all over the place so want to get that sorted later.
Out with dh this morning and then have some eBay parcels to post.

Have bought quite a few Xmas presents through the grab it board recently so will have a look there next. All paid for through eBay sales. Bought my daughter in law to be a lovely pendant for Christmas with 25% off through Look magazine from the rocknrose website. Lovely if you have some young and trendies to buy for. Also two great branded sweatshirts on Bogof.
Will have a look at my list and see what else I need.
Have a good day all x

Jackie - fabby news about your brother.
nmlc - thinking of you. Been there, done that, got the divorce:D

Shocking news about the wee Welsh lass, but agree with previous poster - WHAT WAS A 5-YEAR OLD DOING PLAYING OUT IN THE DARK AT 7 O'CLOCK?
Also very sad about the Hyde Park bomb survivor who killed his children and then himself. I suspect that when you are in the pits of despair, thinking straight just doesn't come into it. My thoughts are with both families.

We have sun today:j. Hopefully the chicken run will dry out as they have been squelching about in the mud for the last few days. Doesn't make for happy chickens - or happy eggs!

Am waiting for Thursday as the tax credits hit the account. £2.35 will not get me very far at the moment! Have had to cancel a hospital appointment because I can't afford to put fuel in the car til Thursday:o I am seriously thinking about giving up the car but the kids would throw a fit I think. (Hmmm, how would I get to hospital if I didn't have a car at all? The bus service from here is diabolical and would entail two bus changes plus most of a day off work - all for a 30-minute appt. This needs a rethink)

    Hugs,
    Lilli

  • I have that same situtation with hospital appointments. It's 3 buses and at least 4 hours without the time spent waiting, so it makes it a whole day and work allow one hour for an appointment, so have to use a days holiday :(

Has anyone tried putting fuel in the car more frequently as it is supposed to use less with the tank not full? We use £75 per week and OH is thinking of trying £15 a day to see if it is more economical than filling up on a Monday.

I need to sort my Christmas store cupboard out and find all the things I bought in the sales last January with long shelf lives. I know I have luxury mincemeat, tinned chestnuts and am hoping for some lovely surprises. Then I need to check where I stored the cards, wrapping paper and crackers. :)

    Hi everyone.

Best of luck to Mr Bitsy.

I'm so pleased to realise that a lot of the foods I use in recipes are reasonably high in iron - I use cashews and almonds in my HM nut loaf, for instance, and often use raisins in cakes and biscuits.

I like the idea of watercress soup; but I think it'll need to be watercress-and-something or Mr LW won't go for it. I wonder if I can find a recipe for watercress-and-tomato; he'll eat more or less anything with tomato it!:D

Mr LW has also said he'll see about getting some decent dark chocolate for me; he's done this before, and I can have a square a day (have to make a note, or I forget to have it):rotfl:

I don't bother with snacks; I actively dislike eating (it tires me and causes a lot of pain) and find if I have a snack, I can't manage my next meal.:(

Hilstep that dream sounds wonderful; I wish someone would do some healing for me, I sure could use it at the moment!

ETA: I just looked at the clock, and realise I should be getting some lunch - I didn't eat any breakfast (I'd just got my mouth ulcers to stop hurting and didn't want to start them off again, so decided to skip it) but I'm not actually hungry.:(
