We changed from D/D to Keypad a few years ago when we were with NIE (powerNI). Dead easy to switch, no charge. Then moved then from NIE to Budget - same keypad.
The only thing is that I think PowerNi have to install the keypad (although not totally sure). Give budget a ring and see what they say.
Keypad is the way to go IMO as you know exactly were you stand, and you can view (via keyapd) daily usage etc etc
I'm with Airtricity and looking to get a keypad fitted also as it seems easier to get a better deal on KP. I contacted NIE supply about getting a KP and they replied that I should contact my supplier (Airtricity). I phoned Airtricity and they said they had a list of people looking to switch and that it depended when the electrician was in my area. I asked to get switched to KP and the approximate time and they said one month - well it's over a month and I still haven't been contacted so I might just switch back to PowerNI and get a KP from them.0 -

So I phoned them today and they stated that my rate would be 13.71 from the 15th October. It is worth phoning 08456019093 to find out.
Cheers!
That is a great deal peacock. Fingers crossed they have now confirmed it in writing with you. How long did they say the rate will last?

Budget Engery are no longer the cheapest for bill payers. Sign up for a one year contract with airtricity and its 13.47p per unit whereas with budget its 13.97p per unit, a saving of £20-£30 on an average domestic usage over the year with airtricity. Not a great deal but at the same time better in your pocket for the price of a phone call.

I got the big code on Wednesday as I was rushing to work. Of course as I was rushing I got a digit wrong so had to do it all again. :rotfl:
Did you know that when they cut you off for having no credit that if you press the star button it comes back on again? Not sure how long for though.0 -

Never knew that,thanks...I normally 'run out' over a weekend so I have all weekend to top up,although I have noticed (or maybe it's me) that you seem to pay more if you go onto the emergency credit...0 -
Have just contacted Airtricity to change over, seemed civilised enough, ten day cooling off period, then a new code to enter on keypad. Cheapest in UK they said!0

I am with Budget and have had no problems with them.
An Airtricity rep called yesterday to try to get me to change over, but I chased him. He nearly put the door in, which always puts me on the offensive (I used to do a video run door-to-door and I could do far more calls than he ever does without knocking a door like that), his attitude was all wrong, plus (not that this matters LOL) he looked like the last time he washed his hair was in October.
Anyway, just had him back there now, same attitude etc. as yesterday but he was doing me a favour by calling back to tell me that he had just heard (as he pointed to his mobile) that Budget were going up by about 0.7p a unit, and then did that thing that salesmen do where they don't say anything and expect you to cave in.
I chased him even quicker.
He told me that I was honestly the first person, ever, not to change over from Budget to Airtricity in his time.
It was like "deja moo", the same bullsh*t over again. :rotfl:
I may change if it's true about the price but I'll do it online or over the phone.0 -
