Has anyone else noticed that the site is playing up tonight. Constantly getting page not found message and now noticed that a thread has disappeared which was started by Martin yesterday.

Yes, please reduce the number of threads displayed per page, and turn off that vB post/thread preview feature when you go over the thread link... those should reduce HTML page size; speed up page loading time and of course speed up the server under heavy loads!!0

Its all about numbers. The server clearly can't cope.
Or at least write a shell, perl or php script and add it as a cron job to automatically update the database to turn off resource-hungry forum features during the usual busy times0 -
It might be moderately busy at this bright time of day, but I doubt it's a peak period. Perhaps there's some undeclared maintenance somewhere. I thought the default page length was 10; even at longer you don't expect it to take 50 times longer than normal.0

I was having a mare last night too - gave up in the end. Kept getting 'page not found' all the time - still, seems OK this morning (touch wood etc!)"It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

One thread is still missing and I am sure that there are a few others too. Anyone else noticed?
