Would I be a killjoy buying him seated tickets to a gig?

Good point so just done it, they're on their way!

£2.50 extra for non email tickets  but they'll look better than an email printout on Christmas morning.

My Alice Cooper tickets are e-tickets and I still had to pay £3.50 for the pleasure of printing them out myself!!

I've been knocked to the floor at the Brixton Academy myself (sloping floor, high heels, not a good combination)
For some reason, I've always thought of your username as male, so this gave me a double take! :rotfl:

And just tell your son not to wear high heels and he'll be fine :)

yeah that's a good idea - I like to keep my gig tickets so am sure your son would prefer a hard copy to keep to remember the gig by.

I'm definetly getting old :p , i'd prefer seating these days though have 3 gigs i'm going to which are all standing  (i have reason to dislike standing-one time i had a crowdsurfer land on my neck and knock me out-and was told i could have been paralysed or killed-i hate crowdsurfers!)

I used to go to a lot of gigs with pretty full-on mosh pits and I have to say the crowds are generally very good about helping people up if they fall and making sure that nobody gets hurt. As a 12 year old (girl), I went to see Metallica at Milton Keynes Superbowl and lived to tell the tale, so a reasonably burly 15 year old should survive a gig at Brixton.

I used to go to loads of rock / metal gigs (machine head / pantera / sepultura / white zombie / RATM) when I was that age and TBH, if my Mum bought me some seating tickets I would be a bit gutted! Being up the front is what it’s all about, and as someone else posted, other people are generally quite good when it comes to making sure gig goers don’t get squashed / trampled on.

I getting standing for Brixton the view is a thousand times better it's an old theater so the seating section is quite far back.

I find that normally the standing before the metal bars in the middle of the floor and around the sides is pretty spread out and not too crazy.

I've seen loads of bands there from Good Charlotte to Machine Head & Disturbed never (touch wood) had any problems.

As for being at the front I was front for Iron Maiden at Donnington Park and got my legs knocked out from underneath me. Two huge blokes saw this picked me up and kept me safe for the rest of the show :) I had to beg them to let me buy them a beer after

I second that at heavier gigs people look out for each other. I've been to Machinehead and and Dropkick Murphy's gigs where the singers have stopped playing and told the audience to help someone out. I've also fell inside a pit when I was younger to be pulled up by a guy.
Recent gigs i've been to, I've found that guys are very protective of the girls too and often make sure you're not getting bashed about.

If my parents bought me seating i'd be gutted, especially if it's for someone I really like. I also second the getting from seating to standing is easy.
