Morning Happy... thank you!! You are right, money for Christmas has been requested but I am thinking that if I have serious hardship ahead I need something to amuse me along the way..( new winter coat ) but maybe I need to suck it up and think of the fab Christmas I will have next year knowing I will be debt free...:o
I have a very small family and we are limited to £10 each at Christmas.. my parents aren't able to support me and I certainly don't want them too - any money handed to me is stretching them as my Dad is self employed..I am rethinking my Christmas hampers for friends - NONE and I mean NONE have ever bought me a present.. so why am I bothering this year of all years. I will send cards... with my cat in a hat on them instead...:rotfl:
Toiletries..? ......you are going to be well proud of me when you hear this....75p in Tesco's for shampoo, same for conditioner... ( have to sued conditioner as I have really long hair and the shampoo is awful :rotfl:)... Approved-foods.co.uk were selling imperial leather soap, 3 for a £1.
...see next post for list of wasteful products I have to use up...
The big loan is for a piece of land in Ireland ( half acre ) and the other loan is for my motorbike so these aren't frivolously created but I understand what you mean that they won't disappear over night. My dad pays me £140 a month towards the land so its half his but I don't want to ask for any more money from him and am attempting to take care of this loan ( due to end 2016 ) by myself in exactly 12 months... ( what can I say, I like a challenge..)
The bike loan is all mine... and I would not be able to live where I am without it. I love being in the countryside but love working in central London.. having the bike allows overtime working on a Sunday when the trains start an hour after I should be in work.. And my goodness it's fun!
I am pushing for overtime at work which could potentially pull in another £250-£600 a month but is not something I can never guarantee, it also means working weekends as well ( at least 3 per month which is a LOT )... to pay off exactly as I am planning will hit me at £1732.73 a month... I earn £1798 after tax / student loan etc which is part of the amount I have listed in my signature.. this will sort itself out by October so not something I am thinking about...
SO I NEED to find extra income from somewhere.... at least £2000. Which isn't a lot more and may only account for two OT shifts a month..maybe...
Everything I can think of is going on eBay.... Penhaligon Perfume samples just sprung to mind..:T“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. ...SO.. as Happy mentioned above..getting toiletries for Christmas to save the pennies is a great idea... but I thought I might make a list to shame myself into making use of what I ALREADY HAVE... there will be a lot I have forgotten and will add to it tonight.. this also add recently acquired freebies and deals....ahem...here goes.....:D
- Argan Oil ( £32 )
- Neem Hair Oil ( Dr Haushka £30 )
- Eucalyptus Noir Soap & Rose scented shea butter. ( £56 )
- Aromatherapy Associates Shampoo Sample x 2
- Aromatherapy Associates Body wash Sample x 2
- Nuxe Dry Oil ( £8 bargain )
- Neom Body wash ( £18 gift )
- Aromatherapy Associates soap samples x 2

- Weleda Lavender Gift set x 3- body wash and oil ( Will be eBay'd ) [all 6 sets above bought for £3.99- valued at £15.99 and were going to be Christmas hamper fillers].
- Nearly full bottle Johnson&Johnson's body moisturizer.
- No.7 nail varnish ( various colors ) x 10 [again these were bought on offer mentioned in MSE a week ago, all worked out to be free. Would have been Christmas hampers but am tempted to sell 'em all now]

Ooh and Happy no PPI. I made sure in both loans ( which were taken out quite recently ) that they were not included......or and the guy I sit beside at work runs an animal charity / shelter / re-homing.. el-cheapo puddy-tat products right there...legitimately may I add!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Realized "Fonesure" were taking £5.99 from me for months.. since 2006. For a phone contract taken out in 2006 with orange... I left Orange 4 years ago. have emailed them, had the policy cancelled and am requesting a refund - should I not get this, despite cancelling with them YEARS ago by phone unfortunatly...should my findings be published on MSE for all to be aware? or would that get me in trouble?..
I am guestimating I am down £5.99 x 4 years = £287.52.
Now whether I get this or not is another thing... I will update.“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Fingers crossed that you do , i recently did a claim for my bro regarding insurance on a phone that was cancelled 6 years ago then refunded no questions asked
so lets hope its the same for you
yipppeeeee x
Thats one hell of a list lol mine is nowhere near like that ,and your right why should you do hampers for friends for nothing in return especially when you are trying to reduce the negative wealth it will make things a little nicer for youxx
I AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. LBM 08£77240.69 Current outstanding total £36083.01 Paid so far = £41157.680 -
Happy I really hope they will just hand it over.. that will clear my 22.9% CC. meaning anything I make this month with eBay selling will go towards my bike insurance... I have been disappointed before so I won't think too much about this one...
Motorbike insurance has been quoted at £641. No way am I paying this... comparison sites here I come...
Yeah the toiletries are going t be reduced down to nothing before buying any more...!!! And yes Weleda products should drum up a lot of profit on eBay..“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
That's an impressive list of toiletries :rotfl:
Bizarrely, I've noticed that opened toiletries sell quite well on eBay. I once got £20 for a half empty bottle of perfume and my eyes nearly popped out of my head when there was a bidding war on a partially used jar of neck cream (it was way too gloopy for me and I said so in the listing, hoping for a fiver if I was lucky) and it ended at £36  I've ebayed everything that's not nailed down! I'll probably get rid of some of my summer clothes now that the good weather's gone. I'll keep a few essentials packed away but the debt won't pay itself, so it's all gotta go
Good luck with the phone claim-you have nothing to lose so I hope that has a happy ending for you.
You'll find that you will go through phases where you run out of steam - it's a long haul journey you're on so it's not realistic to expect to be this enthusiastic all the time. Your diary will be great though, just post what you're feeling and a bit of support will soon be along :A
I'm being very MSE at the minute. I'm staying in a hotel on a work trip and it's £15 for Internet access in my room  so I'm currently lurking in a corner of the lobby where it's free :money:0 -
SS will post properly later but currently walking all over London prior to a meeting to save £££. Love this MSE'ing...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
