Well MSE'ers I'm en route to Luton Airport.. Tickets bought from Trainline to get Boots Treat Streat points and done in advance.. ( NSD NSD NSD...).. Lunch packed and hand luggage only to save save save...now how do I get a free tea??

3 cheques to be lodged tomorrow amounting to £17.14 ( BT/Fatbrain/WeBuyDvds).. Plus I found £3 in a bag whilst searching for ear-rings. So £20.14 on the CC.... Oh it's satisfying it is!!!

Daddy picking me up from the airport so the journey home (100 miles) will add to my Confused.com/Motormate app mileage! I'd have done it anyway this week so it ain't cheating.. Will just be interesting to see what star rating he gets... Then 100 miles back next week will finish the challenge.. Will be fun getting the cheque if indeed it works!! So thanks SS for the heads up- how's your cradle/charger working for you? It won't stay on my bike (ha ha) so will either go on eBay or swapped with an aquaintance who wanted£20 to fix my iPhone.... Little joker!

Frustrated with a dopey friend not wanting to use £35000 that she received off a dead Gran's estate on her debts cause it'll be 'a waste'.. Realised she is not my problem but am annoyed at my hard earned £60 donated towards her 30 th birthday gift! Shoulda stuck to my original £30... Lesson learned..( that and the poor effort made around my birthdays ).. Yes in fire straights ladies and gents it's turning into tit for tat...

Weather for NI this weekend.. Persist and and relentless rain! Nice timing eh! I'm prepared and in my waterproof, fleece lined Berghaus jacket.. Had it for years and looks brand new. Shan't be purchasing that new winter coat that I wanted.. I'm either on the bike when outside and trussed up like a stuffed sausage.. Or in this jacket.. ( I might have 7 others in my wardrobe though..ahem..).. But the girls I see look so professional.. I look like I'm going hiking..I wanna be glam..:-(..

So in prep for sh*te weather I have my netbook ( that's right not iPad ) and pictures of used cosmetics and treats for eBay! Will be loaded up infront of an open fire, home made bread ' with lashings of strawberry jam' and rain beating at the windows.. ( and the old smelly Labrador lol! )..

Pray for me folks.. Strength in the face of smellies ( not the dog ).. Gifts shops, tea shops, tat shops, leprechaun shops, stuffed sheep and toblerone shops, more tea shops...that's right- duty free..

Good day it sounds like you are very prepared for your time away ... regarding your friend and the 35k,shes probably not had her lbm and is just thinks everythings ok ..... maybe she wont spend it all at once and might have a lbm and have some left over to clear her numbers ... its frustrating when your on your quest and others arent even aware of what they owe or whats paid out etc and still seem to be better off than us lol ... but ive learned nobody ever really knows whats going on in other peoples world so as long as im actively sorting things out im happy lol

Happy I don't think she'll ever have an LBM! She'll continue as she is until she realised this 35k she wants to put towards a house is all well and good but they will scrutinise her life and spending habits prior to receiving this money.. She seems to believe buying a house is all about how big your deposit is! She's currently unable to have a CC due to her and her husbands horrific credit rating... But as we've seen posted before.. Not all is as it seems.. I'm hoping she's planning and researching this choice of hers..

Anyway nuff about her... I hate departure lounge queues. No matter what.. I always feel guilty.. I have my boots off ready, toiletries in a wee plastic bag for all to see.. Netbook out yet I still feel they'll attempt a strip search / cavity search for contraband..

hahaha yes i know what you mean it makes you feel like your going to be hauled out for all to see but of course safety first ....... i had a friend who kept boasting about how big her savings was then 2 months later she was spent up and in an overdraft and when she was discussing it what she had spent didnt amount up to what her savings apparently were! which led me to believe she just wanted people to think she had lots of money, me ? i dont care as long as i get out of life what i want x

Happy you are so right!!! I don't care what Joe Bloggs has or doesn't have.. If I can get something £2 cheaper at Poundstretcher than Tescos I'll go there thank you very much... It's a case of wait and see though!

So.. Progress for the day...? I forgot my entire make-up bag! Apparently duty free 'don't give out samples'.. Went to Boots.. Lovely lady pointed out 3for2 off on all make-up..£7.98 later I have a half price L'oreal foundation and Matt pressed powder.. With a eye pencil for free.

Eye-liner will double as eyebrow pencil.. Hairspray for my unruly eyebrows on top.. El'cheapo eyeshadow at home will be smashed into powder for my moisturise.. TA da.. Home made blusher.. Lip-gloss for eyeshadow.. (yes really)..

Had to drink my can of Pepsi before departure lounge..even if it's sealed.. Fair enough.. Had to buy drink.. Total spend.. An unfortunate £9.97..

Make-up won't be opened unless I really really truly have to.. Otherwise returned on Wednesday when I get home! Yes I'm that frugal at the moment!!!

I'll be selling my Nuxe oil online now to cover this cost..:-((..

I haven't used my cradle yet - I keep forgetting....I never forget to use the app though on every journey (including a bus journeythe other day )

Try to let go of your friends financial mistakes - it's utterly frustrating but you know that old saying about taking horses to water and all that! You're on the right path which is what counts. She's just not ready to listen to your MSE ways yet. I know what you mean about birthday presents. I have a similar deal at Christmas where I buy for my entire family and get nothing (and I mean nothing!) in return. I can't bring myself to not give them anything though, that seems too mean. This year I'm scaling back and I thought I might try my hand at making home made jam and chutney and stuff for my mum and dad but I don't know how good I'll be at it, and I have a feeling the ingredients will all be more expensive than just buying something so maybe I'll just stick to what I know....safer for everyone :rotfl:

Susie i would not buy for them and save some pennies but of course its all what you feel comfortable about, im trying to wean back who we buy for so that we can wean it out but i suppose its a nice tradition it doesnt have to cost the earth xx
