Right clearly I haven't really avertised this here so I shall quickly explain what it is.... 7 days of juice. Thats it bascially. I have to blend everything myself and strain it as I don't have a juicer, bottle it and carry at least 4 bottles to work. So far day one is going ok. I am not hungry.

I am focused entirely on "cleaning" my system through juice and only juice. Will it get hard - probably. Will I starve - no don't be silly. I started the plan with three donuts, a bag of monster munch and fours rounds of toast with three veggie sausages. I was feeling quite awful to say the least - this feeling should carry me through until day 5. Then I rest on my own laurels and sheer determination for the following 2.

Jason's "Juice plan" - is not a fast and is not a diet - it's a LIFESTYLE CHOICE people! :T And having seen my friend do it first for 5 days and then 7 I think I need to keep up!

So que a trek to Lidls then Morrisons yesterday for the following...ahem..
    • 2 Lemons
    • 6 Limes
    • 3 Avocados
    • 35 Apples
    • 3 Pinapples
    • 3 Cucumbers
    • 5 Carrots
    • 4 Sticks of Celery
    • 1 Broccoli
    • 1 Beetroot
    • 1 Courgette
    • A stem of ginger
    • Bag of Watercress
    • Bag of Spinach
    • Bag of Kale
    • 1 banana
    • Spiralina
    • Wheatgrass powder
And this is just days 1-3.

Blend a myriad of these fruits and veg and add too much lime and too much spiralina and you have two of the most gross juices to start the day with.

    1 down / 1 to go.

The other three might prove to be somewhat better - but I doubt it.

When the recipe says "a handful of mixed greens - spinach, watercress, parsley and kale" what it translated to in my head was "a fistful of each of the following - spinach, watercress, kale and a giants handful of parsely". There is a beetroot in there somewhere which makes it even more gross to look at never mind drink.

But I have a fruit little number with a not-so-ripe avocado swishing around inside for later with a zingy over-ginger'd carrot and apple juice for dinner when I get home.

Treats! Don't fret dear reader. It's only day 1. It will get better I promise.

  • Well now. Am I dreaming about food! Hmmmm YES!!! It was sweet chilli fried quorn in a wrap for the entire first day. Then i dreamt about a bagel with peanutbutter and jam. and successfully sat through watching my friend and her husband eat our normal Saturday plate of goodies without caving.

    I will succeed!

This "plan" is working I think. Although it has been disrupted somehow by last nights OT shift and todays morning spent in bed... I have 4 juices with me and another 3 in the fridge so that should see me through until the morning and the process starts again.

In record time I managed to create 5 juices in 30 miutes. It's amazing what a £20 blender from Sainsburys and strainer can do!

But last night's downtime as work took me here..http://migrationology.com/2011/05/top-16-bangkok-street-food-sanctuaries/

Perhaps my desire for food is a little stronger this weekend than most. I found this girl too... http://www.fussfreecooking.com/

  • Whoopsie by me.

You're doing well Kat. I did a juicing diet last year and lasted til mid way through day 2 when the sight of another carrot sent me to make toast and peanut butter - I'm not usually a quitter, I think I just didn't have my usual determination to make it succeed. Massive well done for not caving (sweet chilli fried quorn? If you're gonna dream, dream big! Mmmmmm :))

I'm sitting here with a kitchen full of ingredients for soup and a few meals like chilli and casseroles as my freezer has been empty for the last few weeks and I need to replenish it with some wholesome ready to eat meals but I've also been looking at juicing. I could only really do a 3 day version as I travel so much with work but I'll get back into the healthy eating and then go for a 3 day juice-fest!

Not much else to report from my end - just chip chip chipping away at the debt and plodding along with busy busy work days (although today is a sneaky half day!)
  • Hi Kat
Well - you have inspired me again!!!
I actually already had the Jason Vale juicing book and a juicer at the back of my kitchen cupboard so thought I might join you on the health kick. Been feeling so sluggish lately, my skin is awful and I still haven't lost about a stone and a half from being pregnant with the twins (who are now 21 months old!). So, went to the market to get everything as cheap as possible and am now on day 2 of the plan. Feeling good and not too hungry but not sure how well I will cope when need to be away from home and take the juices with me. Really like them blended with ice but not sure they would be so palatable warmed in my handbag!!! Hope you are coping ok.

I have been blocked from posting on my own thread every so often..?? I can't seem to add more than a few lines. I am investigating as we speak... Stand by I am trying to add more...

    SUCCESS!!!

    ...

Well good Day one and all.

My sore throat and headiness have developed into a full blown cold so I have taken the day off work! I am sat here in my room trying to finding the strength to get my act together and get out to get more apples for my juices!

I have typed this message twice at work and it was "blocked" so I shall only ever be able to update at home which makes it hard when I get home late. But I shall prevail. :p

SO I got home a little earlier yesterday and got all my juices made up. Feeling this rough makes the idea of food a little off-putting so my timing for this cold is fantastic...:rotfl: But on day 5 I am starting the day with the Juice Chute - mainly vegetables. Not a favourite. The other for the day have the correct amount of very expensive spirulina added unlike day one that was DISGUSTING!!!..glad I worked that out because I was beginning to get upset with myself for buying an £11.99 bag of the stuff in the first place. But at least I know now it will last me FOREVER> Treats.

SO my overtime pledges have propelled themselves into epic realms making me realise that I had nothing to worry about. These are the months the Mums and Dads want time off work and the gaps for staff are rising. So I have 3 more shifts guaranteed this month amounting to around 20 hours at double time with another two pending which will take it to 36 hours double time on top of this weekend just gone taking it to 53 hours on double bubble.....

I am literally going to be on the work ball for 23 days straight if all OT shifts kick in. I want to do as much now and in September and possibly October to ensure as much money as possible come through BEFORE the end of December....

Beckyboo welcome to the juice plan! How is it going for you? Days' 1&2 were very hard for me as I was dreaming about food, desperate for avocado squished on toast and generally anything with peanut- butter on it...

Right.. time to get out of my pj's...

  • Hello all..

This is what made me happy today! We had a cat nap together when I realised I didn't get a day sleep today...

    2igol0x.jpg

From a distance she is almost camouflage against my blanket! It amuses me greatly!

But I still feel rough! Had a very simple salad to get garlic into me which was lovely but not something I was craving. I just don't want this cold to stretch further than it needs to. LLL has realised I have taken over the living room sofa and perched myself infront of the TV. A big no-no for Jason Vale...

So I have tomorrow off work. I am more desperate to get in and check what other OT I have been awarded but it will have to wait. I am only grateful for this cold for the simple fact it has quashed any trace of an appetite I may have had.:T:T:T

Oh goodness I am so boring....sorry folks. This is life at the moment..

Juices made for tomorrow though, never great to store them for too long but I have no choice. I need them ready to go the next day cause my busy social life takes up all my time...NOT!:rotfl:

Might bribe DST to the cinema tomorrow to breathe all over her.... thats if I am no dead....#overdramaticmuch.....

    Over and out..

  • Hi Kat
Sound like you are doing great on your juice plan despite feeling grotty.
I am on day 4 today and I have to say I am shocked and pleasantly surprised to say I feel fantastic. Skin is much clearer, tummy feels less bloated and I'm not obsessing about solid food quite as much as I thought I would be.
How long are you doing this for? I know the plan is for 7 days but was looking at Jason Vale's FB page yesterday and there is a 28 day challenge where you repeat the 7 day plan 4 times. I'm seriously wondering about giving it a whirl but with a few meals added in - just so I don't become a recluse!!!
So wish I had an opportunity to do overtime!!! Not much call for that with teachers - lack of children after 3.30pm is the problem I think!!!

  • Hello Becky...DAY 7...I have had enough really! I am going to continue the Turbo plan and continue with my green smoothies / juice for breakfast, salad for lunch with a heavier grain led dinner. But 28 days would have be weep! I NEED TO COOK! and eat........so today is the last day!

I am glad you are feeling good becky - yes less bloated, better flat tummy, skin defo a lot better but I believe with me that happened when I packed in dairy all those months ago. I will never go back. But this cleanse is just what I needed..

Juices made and ready to go. I am on a late shift at work and I know the man I am working with usually goes for chips on this shift. Come the evening time, after my last juice when I get home I might have an avocado on toast but I can't risk chips! I think that would be a push to far for my now super clean body...

So off to work I go.....#groan. Hopefully to an email about more OT... Becky I see your problem...private tutoring?

  • So having spoke to a colleague about my money plans ( and having been suitably made fun of for my juicing plan ) I have realised I need to release some excitment and fear all in one dirrty bout before I either aggravate someone and forthwith recieve a beating...It's weird how not everyone is happy about your money-saving habits or targets or goals or achievments. [STRIKE]Jealous losers...[/STRIKE]
I am going to Thailand in either late August 2014 or September. Simple as that. I will tour Cambodia, Laos, Burma and Vietnam, eat everything without a face in sight and read about said countries and their history before I leave.

I have decided that train arrival will be too complicated and long winded (for now) and a flight into said country might be less complicated for my first epic length of time away from home - although London is not home per se.

I will give up LLL and the lovely house. Bring Puddy-Tat to Ireland much to my Dad's delight (NOT!) and insist they cuddle her everyday, Hercules the 650cc Bandit will be housed at my yet to be bribed friends house and I will put most of my stuff in storage. I think I will sell my bed. The mattress is too hard for this princess.

So what does this call for...??? A grandiose down-scale of items pertaining to my person, items not yet worn, hath not been worn in yonks and is to short/tight/weird etc. Thus storage will be cheaper. Cannot be transported home though...And what amazing timing - my church is having an open day for the community to give away any such items to those who need it.

How ruthhless could I be though?

As much as I am excited about this travel - it ain't happening until next year. And it ain't happening if I don't clear this last £4970. When I think back to where I started I have begun to realise anything is possible if you put your mind to it with unresolved stubburn determination with no regard for anyone or anything (in the nicest possible way)...

So as of today I have another 4 OT shifts until the end of the month and I am awaiting the confirmation of a miniscule 4 hours on Bank Holiday Monday. This should equate to a whopping £1400 in total albeit not yet whacked with the tax-man-stick. Bas***rd! I feel a distinct sense of reality is going to hit soon.

......On another note... I would still like to write for a living. I have an idea for the weirdest, coolest, end-of-the-world book (that doesn't include zombies) ever but I doubt it will lift off any time soon...*sigh*.. so I am happy to settle for writing little articles about "mega tough a**ed debt busting that's not for the faint hearted" stylee columns. :T

Despite my intial dabble with another website and writing for them - which didn't work out - I am not put off wanting to make my living from wittering on and on about things that interest me hoping they are things that interest you. What better way to spend ones day. Does it matter that you don't know what I look like, what I do or who I am? Would I be judged by what I look like perhaps?.. to put your mind at ease I am apparently a little like Pheobe off friends in personality and my Dad says I look like Sophia Loren...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:( lol.....BIASED!!)...

So the website man of yester-year could no longer afford me. Fair play. He wanted me to end my days at MSE and forth-right abolish my ties to :money: and bring you all to his website. I said no. Whoopsie! He afforded me space and some monetary funding towards my debt busting which enabled me to hit my end of 2012 targets and set me on the right foot for this year..

Now I wonder what else I can do. I feel leaving prior to this Challenge being complete would not only be unfair but inconsistant and a little off-putting, am I right...? And to be honest if I was not easy at hand to readers of MSE who would continue to read my witterings...

So my tact might be a Budget Travel Website.... oooooooh NSK Around the world in 80 Saves. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:... I think if a journey is embarked upon with careful thought towards moneysaving a moneysaving journey it would be...

Now then.......who was that dude that travelled the world without paying a penny of transport....?. Not as safe for a female that can't stop talking....

Or writing... sorry.. lets wrap this up. I'll be back. Never Fear!

    Onwards!!!!!

**I swear it's so quiet on here recently it's like I am talking to myself...and Becky...and Siousxie**
