Indebted .. if we go back to Northern Ireland there are no roadworks. Cause there ain't many roads...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:..Seriously though I'd have had home made bread on the go, lentils bubbling (I can tell your excited by this prospect alone ) and el cheapo rock cakes with a cuppa for afters... but hey ho...... how are the plans manifesting on a daily basis for you... are you living on supermarket own brand goodies? Bringing your lunch to work..?.. are you limiting activities with friends in public houses..?... I am curious...
The bread and rock cakes sound fantastic, not so sure about the bubbling lentils though
The daily plans are all on track for now. I'm only 3 months in and feel so much better for finally sorting my financial life out. Yes the Delphian predictions are correct, I have switched to supermarket own brands and haven't really noticed the difference and I even sought out the hallowed Yellow Label aisle in Mr T's late last night and was amazed at some of the bargains to be had :T Having read through all of your diary I am however still very much a beginner at all this. How you manage to feed yourself for so little is frankly astounding and goes to show how much we all must waste! The public house visits are thankfully a rarity, usually no more than once a month. As I don't have the greatest tolerance for alcohol and hate the wooly morning after head but keeping up with friends is important.
Next week's plan, bring lunch to work every day!
Have a great week one and all0 -

Siouxsie where are you..?
I'm hereIt does feel like ages since I've been around though. I took myself off to visit a friend over the weekend (cancelling earning opportunities and making potential spending pitfalls ). However, I had a lovely lovely time and my friend wouldn't let me pay for anything. I carefully calculated whether or not I could afford to go because I knew we'd end up eating out. We spent most of the time out and about but she fed me every morning from her home, and we ate out once with her insisting on paying. As a result my food budget's been stretched by a few days and I still have a little bit left. Okay, so I had beans on toast for dinner tonight when I got home, but it was yummy (if a little cheese-less!). I still have two more portions of lentil chili in the freezer so I've taken one out for tomorrow's dinner and then I may have to hit the supermarket on Tuesday. The budget's going well though as we're a third of the way through the month now and I'm about a third of the way through the food budget so, a bit more careful planning, and I reckon I'll be fine. Your budget looks alright as well Kat. You still have more than half of it left (plus the emergency £10). What's next on your shopping list? I think I'll make some more burgers and buy some fresh veg. I need a few bananas as well. No more than £12 for me this week, and I also have the £3.98 Price Promise voucher I found on the ground last week, so really £8 out of the budget is what I'm aiming for
I'm quite enjoying the challenge, knowing that it's short term.
I want to update my signature as I've paid a bit more off the Opus Mastercard but I stupidly locked myself out of their website when I forgot the password (too many passwords to remember!). I know how much I paid, but the statement should be ready by now and the new interest amount will be added - I like my spreadsheets to be accurate! I'll call them tomorrow.0 -
Morning Chickadees...Indebted..I will let you off the lentils. It's an acquired yet yummy taste! We may convert you yet into super-duper frugal eating.. you are doing well so far.. SM own brands and yellow sticker yummies are really the way to go. It's amazing what you can find there! Yet Siouxsie I have never quite managed to find one of "those" receipts.. must keep eyes peeled. Heading to do a yellow sticker run tonight... just getting food ready for work and will post more later...(avoid looking at LLL's cheese in the fridge...)“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Thanks for the shout-out NSK
I'm still lurking
I failed my exam and had to pay a small fortune to resit it later this year. When I'm not at work or studying, I'm reading, rating and reviewing on Dooyoo - I've earned just under 75 pounds so far, most of it since the end of April/beginning of May and 20 in the last week or so.Your biggest asset is TIME! Hello all,
Good luck with the resit, sorry you didn't pass this time round though *hugs* xx
I'm a bit of a cheese fiend too, my excuse being I have to get my dairy intake somehow as I hardly consume milk...apart from when I make a cheese sauce :rotfl:If Hubby isn't planning on having cereal during the week I don't even bother buying a pint!
Little Harley got a clean bill of kitty health from the vets on Friday. Casper got a jab as he has been attacked and did have an infected wound. Dad has volunteered to pay for Harley's chek up and his forthcoming vacinations as he feels "obligated" because he "hoisted" Harley onto because he really wanted to keep him but couldn't. There is no arguing with my dad over money (we tried many times) so it will save us a few bob especially as the vet has cancelled the "vaccinations for life" programme they ran. £80 for a lifetime of vaccs as opposed to the £30 a year it will cost now!
Siouxsie, I have 3 different passwords I use in various guises - if they're for banking they include a capital and numbers for example... that way for any one site I only have 3 possible passwords so I can never get locked out. PIN numbers are my bug bear!0 -
Well now....
I had my baking session this morning. Clearly wasn't paying attention... added far less flour than was needed for my flapjacks and they ended as a flap-pancake. I used a knife, broke it into crunchy bits and shoved it into a tupperware tub. Nibbles for the day! :T..
There is a black tom cat sitting in my garden who has cottoned on to Dorothy's presence as they had a scrap yesterday morning.. he is the only cat that I have ever heard that actually says the word "meow".. except he says "meow meow".. It's so funny even Dorothy looked at him quizzically this morning and back to me as if to say "has he got a stutter then"... poor puddy-tatt was calling out for her yesterday but I am keeping my precious dumpling inside thank you very much..
I have just eaten a home made burger ( only managed to make and fry 4 this morning, the rest are awaiting formation and freezing tonight).. inside a pitta with a tom and basil and a sliced boiled egg...
Siouxsie I am getting even more excited about my next shop. I shall be "treating" myself to a very large 1kg tub of plain yoghurt to have on my spicy lentils... a block of feta that will stretch through the res of the month and possibly black eyed peas and kidney beas... more tinned toms.. but will load up on some fruit this time... I have yet to perfect my basket as I am curious to see what I can get tonight on the yellow sticker run... I am paying attention to what the boy told me last week and will get there around 2015... Avocados and mangos are on my wish list. Will grab tubs of pasta though if they are 44p again...:T
I shall be getting more herbs as well.. my parsley has grown back from last time but I think one measley plant is not enough... I need a normal parself this time..and donations to LLL are requried as she has bought the tomato plants and peas etc.. oh and strawberries...
I do have a considerable amount of food left... it's amazing. I still have 7 toms... 450g rice.. 400g lentils... tin of peaches.. an entire broccoli.. a large white onion and 3/4 red onion.. lemons.. 2 bananas.. still a lot of apples.. one small portion of spagetti... 6 pittas.. almost the entire pack of frozen peas..(makes a lovely pea homous if you mush them with lemon, garlic and coriander ).. a small pack of oat biscuits that we buried at the back of my cupboard.. inordinate amount of red lentils... and flour...
I am excited again about food after reading Jack's blog.. I have plans for chilli con carne... red lentil dahl.. more sunshine baps with peaches instead of pineapple this time...
It's back to being fun again after my week of ...."hummmmmph"..:T..
Mummy's £10 will be spent entirely on fruit.. for the next 3 weeks I shall have exactly 3.33 per week... I am craving kiwi's, grapes, grapefuits and avocadoes..(I got the latter for 40p for 4 a while ago)... although yellow sticker and Lild's will be embarked upon..
Finally getting to see DST tomorrow.. she has been working like a loon.. we shall have an easy day - maybe a swim and cinema session...
Onwards... I am off to eat pancake rock cake crumbies..“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
