I'm not in a going with the flow mood at the moment lol, pain in the butt ebay buyers and car boot early in the morning - first carbooter trying to barter me down to nothing gets bopped. I'm a right happy cow tonight.
That's a bit cheesy:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
OOPs Oh no, that's the 'Laughing Cow'0 -
99p or even 1p starts are the way forward for many items, especially high value or desirables. Many people search for cheapest first, and the majority of eBay affiliate programmes prioritise cheap items.
I've researched traffic reports and referring domains and seen a huge difference in page views and bidding.
Recently I listed 2 identical phones with identical descriptions - one started at 99p, the other £100. The first ended at £125, the second did not receive a single bid! (although a second chance offer was made to the next highest bidder on the winning auction!)
You do need to be careful with 99p starts on collectables or DVD's for example. In the former category the searches are not consistant - so one week you may find 2 or 3 people looking for specific items who would bid, but the second week nobody is searching for that.
DVD's and CD's are very risky, simply due to the size of the category and the turnover rate of items. A 200 item search result may only have a time span of 4-5 mins, which means only a few minutes prime exposure on the front page. If you are not careful with keywords your auction will be missed by most people until it's sniped at the opening bid in the dying seconds.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I start most of my listings with 99p, I had a hilti drill for 99p and it went for £300! People are not stupid they know what its worth! but it is a risk you take!! You could try to promote it by going through the 'want it now' listings for your items!

Nice morning at car boot, took £235 and the item I started at 99p is now at £41 - I'd be happy if bidding stopped there, much more and I'll start worrying if they'll think the items worth it when they collect.0

I'm moving soon and it's over 200 miles away.
Decided the cost of professional removal firm was going to be too expensive, so I am selling of most of the big things and an awful lot of small things.
Unfortunately, because of where I live now , any buyers will have to travel quite a distance for pick up of the larger items or pay quite a bit for a 'man with a van'.
I'll just have to get up to speed with all the post and packaging wrinkles and hope I don't trip up.
Hope there are some decent ebay bargains near where I'm moving to, otherwise I'm going to have just the curtains and carpets and no furniture!0 -
Well, just when you've had enough you have a good sale and a fab buyer. My collection only item reached £40 last night, buyer collected 10am this morning paid up cash and left feedback a couple of hours later - fab,fab,fab.0
