Second Purse Challenge Thread #2

Thanks Coxy.
I now have another dilemma. I have now got £50 in my second purse, but I am wondering whether to carry on with that and try to make it up to £100 so that if I see lots of bargains I can buy them all. Or do I transfer anything over into my Christmas fund? Decisions, decisions. I was quite excited today when I saw the toilet rolls, how sad is that?

Latest buy: a large tub of options hot chocolate for £5.25 (825g) at Costco.
Tesco sell it at the equivalent of £1.45 which I think is £11.98 for the tub value. I will try and work out how I am going to pay myself back. Any ideas?

Hello! I've been reading this thread for a while now trying to read and re-read the challenge and I think I finally understand it now!! I'm moving house next month and we are moving into a bigger place. We had just taken out a small loan to get some bits and pieces for the house and one of them is going to be a chest freezer. I always find bread and rolls reduced but often walk away as I don't have the room to store it all. So.... I would LOVE!! to join in on this challenge and save us some money on our shopping and save up money for paying off the loan too!.
My daughter starts school in september so I will need some bread stock and to stock cereals etc for breakfasts.
I made the mistake of ordering 5kg of onion in an online tesco shop and as I am a hoarder of empty jars, I have decided to make my own onion chutney and relish so that should be a good year stock of the stuff!
I hope I can keep this up and I have just dug out an old purse to pop into my bag! I also rack up a lot of costa coffee points so I figure if I buy a coffee with my points, I'll add the money to my purse too. Is that the idea?
You're all very inspiring! x x

Esther, how about getting a pot or jar, adding the weight of what a normal one is in the shop, and when you finish it, top it up again.

Thanks Hollie, why didn't I think of that?

Thankyou! I actually have a little bit of a stock cupboard already so I need to take stock of what I have! I had a little obsession with using a sharpie pen to write expiry dates on top of tins so I could see it better in the cupboard.
One thing I shall be looking to stock up on is hair clips and bands for my 4 year old. She loses them all the time! Must find some accessory sales. heheI've got a bit of an advantage too as my partner is a manager in boots so we get 20% off. Brilliant for getting stuff on offer and 20% off! makes it even better. Just means my 2nd purse will be nie and full! hehe! x x

ok so my obsession has gone a bit into overdrive and I now owe my second purse £10 which I borrowed from my bank account using my debit card as the deal was too good and I had no money in my second purse.
Can you please give me a pep talk? The deals do come around again don't they, I feel like if I don't buy it there and then I will miss out and then need It.
Anyway so now I am actually considering just not spending any money at all for the next week or two (apart form my now reduced weekly shop), staying away from the shops so that I can build up my second purse as I've not managed to move any yet into my third purse! ahhhhSecond Purse Challenge

Just took a bag of rice out of the cupboard. I bought it for 40p but paying myself £1.
I have £15 left of this weeks shopping budget so going to look shopping purely for stock cupboard bargains tomorrow. I have a list, if it's not on the list it doesn't get bought but I'm hoping to find so lower priced staples.0 -
Went shopping today and got a few bits! Got 2 bottles of double concerntrate juices which were 2 for £2.50. Haven't tried the morrisons brand before as i usually shop at tesco so havent stocked up until we've all tried them. With all shopping and offers, managed to save £12.56 so it's in the second purse! I've dug out some tesco vouchers aswell which gives a few pennies off here and there so will check online before I head there this weekend. Off to update my sig! x
