Yes, I personally feel I belong on an extended Jezza special! Have contemplated it on more than one occassion, believe me!

It's not funny, however. The pain caused by a man who fails to face up to his responsibilities towards a new baby is impossible to convey. I know there are those out there who sleep with several men at once, but that doesn't go for all of us. Having to explain to a young man at the CSA that my husband was the father of our third child was one of the worst moments of my life. Signing that paperwork to agree to a DNA test was another. I thought long and hard about not bothering. But at the end of the day, it was about our son knowing who his father was and the father having to face up to that.

He didn't go through with it. I have often wondered if the girlfriend knows that....!!!!

Readers here should remember that not everybody thinks along the same common grounding as many forum visitors here.
The GF may not be concerned whether he went through a DNA test or not,
look at it another way, on the whole a child's father should be named on the BC and have PR from day one, if all that does not matter, I get confused as to why some expect the same guy to want to cough up from 15% of their salary and all of a sudden have great interest in the child or ex partner. They can't just be the dad when the child wants something.

PS this is not an attack , just showing another negative point of no name on the BC etc :o

I had a letter today from CSA telling me that they require a DNA test, I know EX asked for this, I put a claim in this year for CSA, we get £10 a fortnight from his JSA (Even though he is working). Who pays for this? And I am a little concerned he will send one of his mates for it? I do hope he has to bring ID (in form of photo). I am laughing at this, because I never once cheated on him ( he did on me at least 20 times), I bet he told his now wife I did. Can't wait for this to be over, stressing me out..

There was a case here when a husband was contacted about a 12 year old child whose mother was claiming paternity.

he agree to the DNA test and was found to be the father.

What they also discovered was that he was the third man to have been identified as the father by the mother and that the other two had proved not to be when the DNA tests were done. One had been paying maintenance for several years.

yes, he'll have to take a photo and it will be signed as a true likeness by the doctor who takes the swab. He will also have to pay for it - either up front (slightly less if he does it that way) or after, it's not something you will have to pay for (although I assume if he wasn't the father, there is some kind of penalty imposed on the mum? I have no idea - not a situation I've heard of).

chances are he won't go through with it when he knows he'll have to pay for something to confirm something he already knows. It's a horrible feeling and still the most upsetting and insulting thing I have ever been through.

If I was to say I didn't want the test surly I would be able to move on with my life and out of the area without him being able to oppose it... (I know I wouldn't get the money but some things are worth more)

I can see why you think that, but CSA is a completely different issue from contact/residence/parental responsibility orders. So he could, if he wishes, apply for access to your child at any time he feels so inclined. The fact that you earlier refused the DNA test will not help you.

Also I believe that if you are in receipt of income support, they will then wish to interview you to find out who the real father is (but hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to confirm or refute this).

Perhaps more importantly, do you really want your little one growing up believing that her mum doesn't know who her father is? And what if (heaven forbid) a medical situation arose and you needed information about her father's family history.

Think carefully about this because you will be making yourself out to be the bad person in all this.

I just spoke to someone from the CSA, I never realized they were open today.

She told me that he asked for it, and was told if he is the father he will have to pay for it, in instalments as he is on benefits (he works on the sly too), and she also told me they will take a photo of him, and when we go for our test we will be shown that photo. He is 100% the father.

    Someone is giving you BS!
When the test is arranged on the forms it does say to submit a passport size phote which the testing Dr has to confirm is a lookalike of the persons being tested. It is true the NRP has to pay for the test and the monies can be added onto the arrears.

You take a passport size photo with you when you go for the DNA testing, the doctor confirms that this is the person/child that I took DNA from. Was the case when I was subjected to a DNA test :D bloody waste of money for him but hey ho.
I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!

Oh dear. I am really concerned he will send a mate with a photo. Is sounds easy to beat the system. It stinks...

It's no longer the case, but it used to be like that when maintenance and benefits were linked, now whether a PWC is claiming benefits or not is irrelevant.
