Paddlingfuriously - you have inspired me to create a signature with my debts on so it can smack me in the face whenever I'm here.
I'm 'managing' with them, but need to try and get them down a bit quicker than I am at the moment, otherwise my DFD is looking like being sometime in 2017 (at least), and by then I'll be pushing forty...Current debt (June 2016): £7699.81
Starting debt (January 2016): £8374.81
Percentage paid to date: 8%
DFD at current rate: July 20210 -

Do it and we can egg each other on! :T
I'm going to pay what I can when I can - anything is better than nothing and at least it won't be sitting in my bank account waiting to be spent on something unecessary (and probably calorific!)0 -

I might have to get some oomph from seeing your levels going down - I think you'll be much quicker at it than me!! My downfall is CDs, recently had enhanced pay from work for additional responsibility so along with paying a bit more off my c/c and tucking some into savings (want to go back to NZ in 2014) I have been buying CDs and tickets for things next year
Still, better than still buying those things but just chucking them on the card!Current debt (June 2016): £7699.81

Not ideal, but it's making me stay in more and makes sure I take lunch to work with me. Hoping this will help change the habits of a lifetime and be better with money longterm once this is paid off. Am 32 next month and really need to start saving!
yayyy! So happy i have a friend on my CC challenge!

Can I join you too (if only briefly)? I wish I'd found a thread like this a couple of years ago when I first decided to seriously tackle my debt. As it is I 'think' I'll be debt free by 24 November this year :j. Then I'm going to start overpaying the mortgage, once I've given myself a few months to get used to the extra money I'll have....
I definitely think it's easier to tackle debt when you're single. It's so much easier to be in control of things and if you can't afford to go out then you don't! I can pretty much have a 'no spend weekend' if I need toIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -

Thanks for the welcome!
My debt wasn't really that big a figure - although it was big enough for me to feel uncomfortable with it. I'm a single parent working full time so as well as the added expense of childcare and other child related expenses there's also the fact that I don't have any spare time for a second job etc in order to earn more money to throw at the debt.
Almost there anyway...maybe I will hang around to impart some of my wisdom :rotfl:although most things I have learnt are from the amazing people on these forums. The Debt Free diaries are extremely motivational. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
