It's not easy .. This is about my 6 th time quitting..
Important thing is you don't give up and keep trying..
Focus on those cigs you don't have and don't beat yourself up :grouphug:0 -
Oof. Been awake since 3:30, couldn't sleep. Got up about 4:30 and was messing about online, wanted a fag but told myself I'd normally be sleeping at this point. It got to 7:45 and I was starting to feel like going back to sleep for a couple of hours, when my agency rang with a day's work for today. So here I am at work, been out in the rain, no sleep and still wanting a smoke - but not doing it!Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0

Well, here we are at 12:12 with lunch fast approaching. I can officially say I have done my first morning. Time for a quick self appraisal.
How do I feel? Hard to describe but kind of empty feeling in stomach combined with a similar sensation to the butterflies thing you get when anxious. My body is obviously now starting to react to the lack of all of those lovely cigarette ingredients that it has so cherished over the years - nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide, ammonia, arsenic and formaldehyde - oh formaldehyde how I miss you! Will head out for lunch and see if I can combat that emptiness before it gets much worse.
Well done evrybody who has got this far - small steps are the name of the game.0 -
I'm in too, trying cold turkey but have some nicotine gum as backup.
I currently have the 'need a cig' headache I'm sure some of you are also having too!
Usual reasons for stopping:
- Health - 2 young children & wife doesn't smoke.
- Been a smoker for 18 years now  over half my life!I was a DFW, now I'm a MFW :T0 -
last cig was about 10.30 pm last night, but wouldn't have had another until 8am so 5.5 hours for me.
Have got some of the mini lozenges, they are pretty harsh but seem to take the edge off. :j going well so far**Debt Free as of 15:55 on Friday 23rd March 2012**And I am staying that way

Hello All,
I would also like to join in the discussion please.
I have been a smoker for about 9 and a half years, and following my boyfriend quitting at the beginning of this year, Stoptober was the motivation to get me to quit (pressured by the boyfriend)
I do not think I will be able to do this on will Power alone so I have gone with the 16 hour patches, and today I feel it has helped so much. I have not had a craving as such for a ciggie, only regular thoughts about having one. I suppose the patch is keeping the addiction at bay, but the habit and routine of smoking is the temptation.
My doctor was also great, she gave me prescription for 2 weeks of patches, and I have to go back for a blood pressure test and a breath test on the 15th. This I think is a great incentive because I do not want to go back and explain I have failed.
I have also told everyone at work and all my friends so I hope they will also help me.
I think also today is a great day to start. fresh start to a new week, and a new month. I think Friday and Saturday when off to the pub for celebrations will be difficult.
I wish everyone else the greatest success in beating this addiction and especially those who are using will power alone, you are stronger than me

11 cigarettes down, lets have another go!

ETA: Am I allowed a fake one?💙💛 💔0 -
Its 15:50pm in the DFW House and most of the housemates are climbing the walls!!
Yep - I think I can officially admit it - I really really really want a fag!!!
But, I am not going to have one. I am still taking the high ground and am determined to show my weak body that I am in control of this situation. I decide the rules round here and I am not going to be smoking today.
Apparently now that I am 8 hours in, my oxygen levels have returned to that of a normal non-smoker (whatever one of those is!) and the levels of nicotine and carbon monoxide in my blood have reduced by half. I can't say that I am bouncing around like an Olympian but guess these changes are a step in the right direction.
The next challenge of the day is imminent - driving home for an hour passing all of those shops and garages containing row upon row of lovely little cigarettes all beckoning me in as I cruise by. Am confident that as long as I manage to get home without cracking then I can deal with the evening and that will be Day 1 under my belt.
Just a thought for tomorrow - may be a good idea where it is practically possible to leave the wallet at home and carry very little cash about with you - if you can't buy em you can't smoke em.
Keep the faith everyone - we have got this far.0
