I've noticed increased sense of smell and taste. Just struggling with the stress head bit-even my work mates keep saying-go and have a fag, you're proper on one today!!! So if i can address that (without going back to cigs) I'll be very happy-open to suggestions?? TIA

I think that will pass. Luckily I was only stressed for the first few days. I didn't feel it, but according to my other half I was becoming quite annoying to live with :p I think after 4 days or so it was gone. I'm only on day 9 but I haven't really been having any cravings. Maybe once or twice a day but nothing major.

I don't feel stressed in myself (if that makes sense), however, apparently I'm really annoying and alot more vociferous (sp) than usual. :o
I'm not really craving-just finding things to do at the times I would go outside for a smoke-usually involves eating :o

I'm trying extremely hard to not fill one addiction with another so I'm not replacing smoking with eating. If anything I'm eating less. I figured since I have strong will power at the moment I might as well quit both smoking and over eating. Saving a fortune!

  • Day 16 and plodding along ok. Need to watch the eating bit though, I've given myself a couple of weeks and need to get back to my healthly diet or I am going to become a right pudding.

Re the stress thing - you are actually more stressed when you smoke as your body and the addiction makes you stress about the next fag. I think the reason why we (and yes apparently I've been a nightmare to live with ;)) appear to be more stressed is actually our body is concentrating on our real needs now. The fog is clearing in our brains. Perhaps we've been using going out for a fag to gloss over the bits that weren't quite what we needed before. Our concentration must be quite direct now as its not being distracted by the nicotine addiction so much.

I've got DH to mend the TV in our room and I've set a couple of my DVD's up there. Early evening I've just started disappearing up there for an hour's peace and quiet - its broken up my normal routine and it gives me a bit of mind space before I go back down and deal with the family.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

As neither of us smoke, we've been doing our own version of 'stoptober'.....for takeaways :rotfl:

Since getting back from holiday in August we've been in the habit of having around 2 a week so decided it was time to cut them out, or at least down a bit. So far so good!

Cessation related anger, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, impatience, insomnia, restlessness and depression have ended. If still experiencing any of these symptoms get seen and evaluated by your physician.
