Preparing for winter IV

Crikey, hope you don't get the frosts and the snow yet! I told my mother in law that they were forecasting it soon and she was horrified. She is 87 and has the heating turned up really high as she always feels cold . She lives in York but the slightest breeze has her putting chunky jumpers on and the heating, even in the summer. She would never survive the cold wet winter we get in Greece from January to April. Before that it can be very cold but the sun is usually glorious.
I bought a pair of leather , thermal lined gloves for riding the bike in the winter today and paid just 5 euros which I am really pleased about. I spotted some fur boot slippers as well which will be ideal when the Siberian blast hits my ankles in the house...but since its yet again 36 in the shade here I could not justify buying them yet.
The shops were heaving with people stocking up on candles and battery operated night lights for their children as we are starting 48 hour rolling power cuts from Monday! Its in protest at the austerity measures and the cuts in jobs at the power company. We have lots of candles, storm lamps, oil and calor gas in so are fine. Got the freezer full of bottles of water to keep it as cold as possible if the power is off for that long. worst thing is we will get no warning which area will be cut off when...“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. I had a look at the child wellies in Lidls, they are lined, they look so warm and cosy.
Unfortunately none in daughters sizeBut they are sized like 7/8,8/9 etc, I think they went up to a 1 or 2.
Worth having a look at as nicer than normal plain wellies.

10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70

Can someone please guide me? I read about the bubble wrap on windows. I have a door on the cold, windy side of the house which has two large panes of glass. Should my bubble wrap be the stuff with the big bubbles or the small ones? Which is best (I have found both)?
Thanks

I read that in the express too. All the other forecasts I've checked don't mention it. Still, either way, I think we are ready! (dare I say that? Dont want to tempt fate...)Bossymoo

Thanks, I look, if it's the coming week I have to buy a weekly bus ticket(that I can use as often as I wish)so it would be a good time to go to Lidl's as all the branches near me are in neighbouring towns. And it will last me from Monday to Sunday so hopefully I'll hit the promotion."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
