  • Hi. Does anyone know how to stop the car doors freezing together? I thought about rubbing salt in the seals but that might cause them to wear/disintegrate. I've already had it happen a few weeks ago and as the weather seems to be getting colder will no doubt happen again soon. Thanks in advance

Maybe vasaline? I'd watch it though as I don't know if it would perish the rubber?

A couple of winters ago my door froze, and the handle popped and broke as I didn't realise. I had it replaced and the mechanic showed me how to get wd40 right into the lock, and yes, he said use Vaseline on the rubber seals to keep water out, and prevent freezing. I've just redone mine and tey haven't stuck since.

Was advised by my boss today to get thermals.. instead of having electric heater on.. not happy
  • Perhaps a drop of washing up liquid along the seals will help?

You need shin etsu grease for door seals as Vaseline can cause rubber to perish! Honda sell it and at good price too which frankly is nothing more than a minor miracle. We use it on all windows a door seals of cars and don't have a problem, generous use twice a year on three cars and we haven't used a tube up yet!

Thanks Missrlr, I'll get it off the website. My local Honda dealers aren't brilliant and wouldn't touch my little pride and joy as its a grey (imported). I managed to tell them more about it.
