I think its more the fact they've squeezed round the front of the car and opened a closed garage door. To me this is a complete invasion of privacy. Most of my neighbours were in and this courier normally leaves parcel with them. So why be nosey and open my garage door when there's a car right up against it?

Sorry .... with the courier company on this one.

Personally, I think it's perfectly reasonable to try a garage door to see if it's open as the vast majority of people (certainly that I know and esp those who work as it's hellish trying to get deliveries when you're out all day) would rather a delivery was left somewhere (shed, garage etc) than taken away.

If the door had been locked (which I appreciate was an oversight - but they can't be held responsible for that) then the guy wouldn't have been able to access the garage..... the delivery guys don't want / haven't got time to be nosey - they want to get the stuff left as quickly as poss and move onto the next one without someone then moaning that it could've been left in the garage that was open.....

The courier had a good nosey all right. It got caught on camera (one installed for insurance purposes). Sorry if I'm being a bit sensitive but the courier company never do this and its the same bloke that delivers to our area. The courier company said he hammered on our door for 5 minutes ..... er no accroding to the camera he knocked the door once then headed to the garage and spent 2 minutes in there. Doesn't take 2 minutes to set down a parcel.

Yeah that's odd, what on earth was he doing for 2 minutes in your garage? I would be a bit bothered too!

After reading loads of this thread last night, I ordered a load of torches and ice scrapers! I am semi-prepared...

I explained this to the courier company but they said it wasn't their problem as all their couriers are self-employed. We checked and nothing is missing but OH has decided to pop in and speak to the police about it.

It IS their problem - they chose this person to carry out the service for them. Did you arrange the courier, or was it a return organised by who you purchased it from?
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

I didn't arrange the courier it was chosen by the seller (other end of the country) of my item (and the courier company tried to blame them as well), when I explained that the only thing in common was their delivery drivers they got quite shirty with me.

All joking aside, when we lost power for 12 hours last year (that included the gas supply as well) I cooked dinner on our barbecue :o. Neighbours thought I was nuts (loads of snow on the ground) but saw the logic once they realised we had hot food.

Thanks for the reminder ...... I know where the new gas canisters are for the camping stove - but not quite sure where the stove itself is (in the garage somewhere) ..... will have a hunt and dig it out & put somewhere obvious this afternoon!:)

  • I need to remember to have a word with OH as well. My emergency box from last winter has been repeatedly raided for camping expeditions, fishing trips, and to repeatedly steal my radio  Will have to make sure it is all back in one place, just in case...
