I have used quite a few of the different Drops yarns including:

    Alpaca
    Baby Alpaca Silk
    Baby Merino
    Big Merino
    Merino Extra Fine
    Lace
    Delight

All of them were ideal for the projects I was working on and I have stuck with them for various projects.

    can be very expensive still.
I want dk for a basic lounging around cardi, soft but not fluffy yarni. I like wool mix for the extra properties it gives.

This morning was our first chilly morning and this evening feels very chilly too. Nice timing for the first official full day of autumn.

I intend to go to bed and watch tv in there - lovely and cosy :)

I got cold in the garden, so jumped in bed for a heat for an hr. Later the downstairs was still warm enough.
  • I bought a duvet from Dunelm, was told its non returnable unless faulty, I noticed today I picked up the wrong size, got king instead of double!

dratt! Any point trying to swop it?
I dont have any king size covers.

I'm sure if its still in the packaging it will be ok.

I got my door / kitchen curtains out of the loft today and I've put them back on their rails. Bit creased, but sure that will drop. Doesn't feel cold tonight but they added cosiness to the hallway straight away. I do have big glass panel in my front door so a curtain makes quite a difference.

Really need to sort the rest of the apples from the tree, too.

It's worth trying to swap it.. I guess they can tell if it has been opened/used rather than just an oops moment.

    If in doubt.. lie...

My hubby bought this yesterday but in true silly man style got the wrong one.. .. unless male member of staff in which case blame your 'inner blonde' :p

They are usually pretty good I've found.. If all else fails find someone with an overlocker and whizz 6 inches off the side and it'll be double size.

  • Went to Primarni for the VERY 1st time today:eek:
Its about an hr drive away so had to warrant the fuel costs & combined it with a food shop by bypassing a L1dl on the way home to pick up some bits for tea.
Anyway, aim of today was to 'prepare for winter' so Primark it was.
I found some 100% brushed cotton duvet sets & sheets for the children in a gorgeous grey fair isle design.
Also picked them each up a fleece onesie & fleece pjs in a similar fair isle design. Am hoping this will make keep them warmer so not having to use the central heating as much but that was enough shopping in there for me! The prices, i thought, were great to be fair but too many people! Shame they don't sell online. Oh & Christmas jumpers galore! but I was good & stuck to just what was needed.
Drove away from the city centre to a out of town Matalan to see if they had any cheap fleece throws for the end of the children's bed but only found 1 suitable for eldest DS.

Next month I'm going to look for some brushed cotton pjs for myself & slipper socks for everyone & fleece blankets for the youngest 2 & that'll be the textile side of things taken care of I think.
Have plans to distribute track suits & hoodies as part of Christmas presents also have new hot water bottles, brought in the sales, stored away as presents but will give them sooner if the weather gets too harsh.
Work continues on my granny square throw that I'm crocheting for the sofa.
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one buying soup for winter and then already eating it!

Haven't done much more winter prep, although tomorrow I'm doing lasagnes for the freezer tomorrow. I did meatballs in tomato sauce the previous week, soon going to have a very well stocked freezer and then I can begin eating it!
  • 25% off tu clothing in sainsburys is still on - kids good fleece gloves £3 for bigger sizes, £2.25 for the smaller ones :) wellies/hats/adult stuff also there and they had loads and loads of fleecy pyjamas:)
