Preparing for winter IV

Same here, it has been so humid and warm at night we're still sleeping under just the quilt cover and kicking that off at times too!!!We've got the sweep coming tomorrow, finally, after contacting him in June as we thought he'd be less busy then but he's been away all summer and is only just back to work. Still it's important to get the chimney swept and thankfully it's been a good summer and looks like staying warm for the forseeable future so no need to use the stove for a while is there?0

Another one who looks forward to kittie posting. Your snippets make me wander off to see what might happen in my locality and to said person's weather site too to see what he's thinking. It still amazes me that when you gave the heads up last week of severe stuff occurring that 'my' weather said sun all day long... even the morning of the lightening strikes!
Anything to get ahead of the game
Personally, and this is based on nothing other than my own paranoia, I feel that we'll have a continuation of 18-20 degrees (weather said so
) for the next few weeks then the temp will fall rapidly. Ready for it but 'need' a draught excluder (I don't need as I can stuff a blanket/pillow down there) but I would like one for the job. I am thinking of crocheting one... no good stuffing with carrier bags though is it? They'll decompose I am presuming?
PS When do we get charged in england for carrier bags and does this effect home delivery groceries? Only interested as they tend to be my bin liners.0 -
I got a huge amount of washing done today, anything I could find. towels, sheets, clothes the lot. Had my big whirly thingie up and also two straight lines. I am pretty sure I could have done it monday or tuesday but would definitely not be trying from wednesday and certainly not for the week from then, well not worth it with these heavy showers that we can get

Fuddle, you always make me smile. You are what I would call an energy giver0 -
I've just looked at Sainsbugs online blurb about home deliveries and they will be charging a 40p per delivery charge to cover carrier bags so I expect all the other supermarkets will be doing something similar, hope that helps, Lyn xxx.0

I made a nod to winter by buying a spare washing up liquid for my store cupboard today. I've also put more tinned soups in there but I seem to keep eating them... I was looking for value DW tabs, but they didn't have any. So they will stay on my list. It's been cooler on an evening here in Yorkshire, so I'll be putting my door curtains back up soon I think. My hallway can get quite chilly on a night time.
I've put my summer clothes away and lifted the coats down from the loft. They were washed earlier in the year ready for storing. Will need to check how the kiddies ones fit.
We also collected all our apples today. I've made 1/3 into pie / crumble filling for the freezer. The rest will have to wait till tomorrow. They are not so good for just eating as they are, but are very nice cooked down with a bit of sugar and spice. We got heaps more this year than we have for the last 2 harvests.
I think I saw somewhere that sainsburys are having a TU 25% off again! I think from 23rd. So I'm going to try get DD some long sleeve thermal vests. I likes the ones I got her last year, and she does feel the cold so much more than DS. Although if they have nice boys ones, he may end up with some too. He had patterned ones last year (a stripe and a camo one) that he just wore as tshirts, they are lovely and soft (and no ironing:T)Bossymoo

I have used quite a few of the different Drops yarns including:
Alpaca
Baby Alpaca Silk
Baby Merino
Big Merino
Merino Extra Fine
Lace
Delight
All of them were ideal for the projects I was working on and I have stuck with them for various projects.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
