Apparently filling them with cat litter is safe and also cheaper than rice, lentils, sand etc so that's what I will do.

dehumidifier bought, its brilliant espvwhen having dry clothes inside. I've washed curtain linings but not put them up yet.
I'm currently knitting a scarf for dd, BC also made one for myself.
Still need to
Buy a freezer and fill it with batch cooked pierce and ping £250
Buy new winter coats for kids
Get central heating fixed (only heating in house it died in Jan) £200
Replace the washing machine
Still saving up to buy the white goods. I'm still working on the rest, but being as frugal as possible and trying my best to save up as much as possible.Jan 2015 GC £267/£260

I can't start on my winter preps yet because we are finally moving house!!! Have been waiting for a 4 bed to be allocated to us and we got one. It's 2 two bed houses that have been converted into one house! It's still in the same village and closer to school and nursery.
New curtains will probably be needed (We have 2 front doors)
Running down my huge 375l chest freezer, then restock for winter
Have to buy uniform for DD1
Wellies are needed for all kids, we grow big footed children. Our 4 yo is a size 12, 3yo is a size 11 and 18 month old a size 7!
All this after packing up a three bed house, It's amazing the amount of tat you collect!: DD1 23/11/09

MUFFIN MAN look up 'WINDOW QUILTS', they're an american idea and are a quilted cover to go behind the curtains up against the window. You put them up in the evenings and take them down in the daytime. Lots of 'How Tos' on You Tube if you're interested.0

I am prepared this year!! I have been frugally shopping for bargains throughout the year. I have some relly warm snow boots,a quiledcoat and igot some onesies in Debenhams a few weeks ago for£7 each, reduced from £28!
Have had a few nice buys from charity shops, a couple of throws for the bed and sofa at £2. lots of toastie socks for 50p
I managed to buy really lovely scarves and snoods from new look reduced to£2. each.
Food wise, my store cupboard is looking much better than last year!!!
The only thing I must do is start putting a few pounds away for the gas meter. It is pre pay and although this house is better insulated than the last place I rented, it still can get very cold, especially when it snows. Also prepay is very expensive, it seems to just eat the credit. I really wish I could have an open fire or log burner!!0 -
Chimney sweep booked for Monday morning :j then I need to start collecting twigs for kindling!
Had new front and back doors fitted last year and a new slightly sloping roof to the single story bathroom (which replaced the slightly bowl-shaped one that had caused a major leak) but I don't feel like any of it was really "tested" with last year's mild winter.
I do so love snuggling down with a good book, by a roaring fire when the snow is fallingbut only after I have finished playing in it first :rotfl:
