Good luck with finding the stove! Ours is in (sorry for more pictures)!!
Skirting makes me a bit twitchy but it's an easy fix. We really got stung for gas this year so this was a huge deal.0 -
I am mostly recycling things I have from last year. I will have to buy new boots. I had bought some DocMartens which I thought would see me through but they hurt my feet so I put the on Ebay. Of course I will have to buy boots for junior. Other than that I am knitting jumpers for everyone...............................................................................

Batten up in DD's room. Couldn't get curtain pole fixed in kitchen/porch as the only option is to secure it to the architrave, which isn't wide enough, will search for a narrower bracket.
Hi-where did you get the waterproof jackets from please?0 -

Mountain warehouse. I saw one in clearance online, went into store and they didn't have it in so they gave me a "sorry" leaflet which entitled me to free home delivery as it wasn't in stock!PAD 2023 Debt total as of Dec 2022 £18,988.63*April £17,711.03

Ok, I've thought about velcroing a curtain (or similar) to the door in the kitchen/porch. This would solve the architrave being to narrow problem and also would give a perfect for, however, wouldn't attaching Velcro to the architrave of a rented property be a very bad idea? I was to cause as little damage as possible.
If it is a good idea, has anyone any tips on fabric to use and how to attach Velcro to it? Thanks in advancePAD 2023 Debt total as of Dec 2022 £18,988.63*April £17,711.03

Krusty.. you can get stick on velcro.. would that work? WD40 will remove any sticky residue once you are moving and want to take it down.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Oh thank you pigpen!!! I hadn't thought of wd40 - also vinegar would work wouldn't it? Why does my mind try and fool me into thinking I'm an idiot?!
What fabric would you advise I use? Those fleece blankets would be too airy wouldn't they and let the air in?PAD 2023 Debt total as of Dec 2022 £18,988.63*April £17,711.03

I have 2 old brass vents in the front doorway and porch door, these are now redundant as there has been a new boiler fitted and vented through the roof. So I have sealed these up just now with cling film and cello tape (very technical!) but seem to be working as no draughts now. So another step towards warm house and lower gas bill

The stove looks good, it will be great on a cold day when you can cosy up in front of it watching the fire, especially if you have a cheap/free supply of fuel.
Pigpen thanks for sharing your photo, it makes me less frustrated with our fireplace feeling like an eyesore when in my head it should (& will be one day) something that enhances the aesthetics of the room as well as being an enjoyable and beautiful way to keep us warm.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I have fleece blankets at my external doors and they do the job.. if you find fleece alone is too airy you can get silvery thermal insulating curtains which will staple or sew or tape to the back of the fleece and improve matters. They are like the thermal foil blankets they use for runners and in emergencies. I got mine from halfcost but they don't appear to have them in now.Baileys_Babe wrote: »The stove looks good, it will be great on a cold day when you can cosy up in front of it watching the fire, especially if you have a cheap/free supply of fuel.

Mine is being boxed in, tiled and becoming home to the consoles and TV.. the room is unused at the moment and is a wide corridor to the kitchen.. I've been waiting weeks for a quote.. OH is taking the terracotta tiles off the hearth next week while I decorate the front room and the loo.. it WILL be beautiful.. I need to have the chimney a cowl fitted too as I have rain and bird poop coming down at the moment!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
