PC from weatheraction has been so very accurate with his forecasting and he forecast the coming MAJOR storm 45 days ago (I am a subscriber). Please do not be complacent. Look right down for lots of hints re coming weather. It will be much more severe than met o says

We have been battening down here and all loose items have been stored away. I am still concerned about some tall ceramic pots, even though heavy, I will be laying them flat and putting the remaining troughs on the ground behind a wall for shelter. Powercuts are more than likely, so know where to lay your hands on the necessary stuff. The up and down temperatures are absolutely typical of the mini ice age we are entering

I would bring the chickens in tomorrow night if I were you. It could get really nasty out there.
I wish this was coming tonight/tomorrow rather than sunday/MondayI have to work on Monday which means the kids will be with a friend and I prefer to have them with me when there is dangerous weather

Hi Kittie,
Just as well you noticed your solar panels were adrift - it doesn't bear thinking about what might have happened. I am hoping to get some soon and I know it would be an extra worry.
All - ask a friend or neighbour for help in battening down the hatches - they will only be glad to help as flying debris become positive missiles.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Dead right LP. Dh says that this will be a very good test. They are now weighted down on a slip proof mat and have wooden bracing all around. We would have been frantic
So many complacent people though, including one dd, who is also in the area forecast. I have sent her the subscriber update and am hoping they read it properly. Unless people were adults in 1987, they really will have no idea. Trees were pulled up and heavy plant pots became missiles. It was absolutely terrifying.
Our windows here are triple glazed and solid but double glazed windows in the house in 1987, they bowed back and forth. I shut all the curtains and we retreated to an area away from windows. So many people lost roofs0 -
I live in the channel islands and all charts at the moment show us having it really bad. I've gone round the whole of the property with my DH and checked everything. Already suggested to him that we each sleep in the childrens rooms, during the storm of 1987 a warehouse down the round from me collapsed (luckily no one injured). You shouldn't under estimate the power of wind.0

I don't remember the storm in 87 as I was a baby but this storm sounds scary.
At least it sounds scary on the internet - the weather forecast I saw yesterday said it would be breezy.0 -
Am due to pick up my new car on Monday, does anyone know when the far south west are expected to be out of the danger area? I have just been approved for the financing on it but with only on street parking I don't want it getting hit by debris, would rather it happen at the garage and me change my mind before I sign!!!!:eek:Thriftkitten
