  • HI all
Apologies if it has already been mentioned, but if you are a member of Unison or your partner is a member you can get a Will for free. I would guess that since they provide the service other unions may do the same.

You've done well my Thinsulate gloves(fingers and fingerless)cost me £4.50 for each pair. Not at Aldi's...They really do work.

We're thinking of getting rid of the car, which means I would have to rely on the bike more: I imagine they'd brilliant for wearing under normal gloves when cycling in the winter? I don't mind the rain in my face, etc, but cold hands and feet NO :rotfl:

I think they would be too thick TBH unless you have some clown sized gloves to wear over the top! Aldi were selling cycling gloves too, have you looked at those?

i got some really thick, lush gloves from sports direct they are from the no fear skiing line and i only paid about £3.50 for them in their on going clearance sales

they have a zipper pocket on the outside for a key i would assume, they have a long thick cuff and a cord to adjust them so they are tight over your shirt sleeve and, this gave me a giggle, a special suede covering on the thumb for wiping your nose on it (it was right there pointing it out on the tags!) :p

might be worth looking for something along those lines, i went back a few months after i bought mine and got a pair for my daughter who had glove envy

I meant to say "under" :rotfl: Indeed, I would need some gigantic gloves :D Thanks for the aldi tip! I totally forgot they had a lot of cycling things out. I am currently living in the middle of nowhere so never really truly paid attention to cycling gear! Now that we're moving to a proper town, I could cycle into town, etc. :)

Why didn't I think of Sports Direct? I'm so glad I mentioned cycling because now I have plenty of places where I can look :D Although I probably would not be using the "wiping" function :rotfl:

You're good! We've left the guinea pigs' outdoor runs in the rain etc and now it means we have to paint another protective coat on them or they'll rot :o I'm just terrible like that :o

Can I ask people what you do with garden plants in the winter? Our newt house won't have a garage so I wonder where to keep them (they're in pots)... We don't have a shed either and probably won't have one soon as the initial cost is a little too high for us :o

Ours are in pots too & I put them in the most sheltered corner.

My apologies if this has been done within this thread before (or elsewhere for that matter!), but I was wondering if you guys could advise on what needs to go in an emergency car kit ? Hubby drives only 40 mins each way so not too far, but I'd like to put something in there "just in case". So far, I have:

    water
    choc/food
    first aid kit
    silver foil blankets x 2
    re-useable handwarmers
    shovel
whistle (has compass, mirror & magnifier built in)
    wind up torch radio

I just feel I've missed something obvious?!

    ETA: oh, and hat/scarf/gloves too
