Preparing for winter IV

DH has asked again tonight about having the fire or CH on, so I said when you get the plumber to service the them.... He's now snuggled under a fleece watching the footie with a steaming cuppa! Do I know how to treat a man, or what? :rotfl::rotfl:
I'm going to check if mum still needs a flu jab - she and dad used to have them, but not sure about the last few years. After her close brush with the hereafter last year, don't think I want to take any chances. Having said that, she's been remarkably well since then, not even a cold, sore throat or hayfever - maybe the trauma kick-started her immune system!
DS must have grown about 3" in as many months, as his winter pyjamas are ridiculously short - looks a right nellie! - so that's what I'll mostly be buying this week, and 1 KS, 1 double and 2 single flannelette sheets - ouch!

Not sure how good a deal it is, but Superdrug had hotwater bottles for £3.99, just the bottles.... No covers...
Lxx
last week at a the mahoosive asda in kirkcaldy we got large hot waterbottles for £3 each and the covers for £2, very thick teddy bear fur like covers too, very nice for a long gentle heat
they had them on the rack by the pharmacy with other health aids etc0 -
I have a large gap under my kitchen door to outside, can anyone recommend the best draught excluder to use? The door has a new flat sill and opens inwards. It also has a weather strip but this does little to stop the wind howling through. Not sure which would be best as I didn't even notice the gap until the other day when I could see a strip of light on the floor and had to work out its source :mad:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

Interesting reading about people's experiences of the flu jab. I've just made hubby's appt for his jab due to diabetes, I won't have another flu jab. Last time I had one I was so poorly I couldn't get out of bed for a week
Never experienced anything like it, and don't fancy putting myself through it again.
I'm looking to get my DD an electric blanket, I've never bought/used one before, are there any particular features I need to look out for? I'd like to get her a decent one, that's safe enough for a 6 year old to use on their bed.
Thanks xx96 items decluttered so far in 20130 -
I'm looking to stock up on tinned soups for work lunches (not a fan of homemade soup really) - lots of glutenfree ones out there, thankfully, and even cupasoups thanks to Ainsley Harriott
I see lots of chunky soups in my future.

My son (9) is asthmatic and has been offered the flu jab. I have refused too.
Just off to work but looking forward to reading this thread later0 -
After having really bad flu for 3 years in a row my friends all begged me to have it last year as when ill i cant get out of bed and with 3 little ones to take care of they end up coming to look after them. Last year i had flu like symptoms (not from the jab but months after) but they lasted 2 days rather than the 7-10 days in previous years. I have to pay for my own but will do again this year tooMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Ohhhh I had that 2 years ago and still remember it - I was really ill afterwards & have been told not to have it again:(
Nerve bothered with flu jabs before last year but I have an autoimmune disease & take drugs which suppress my immune system to so did have it (with no side effects)
Guess I prob should have it again - must ring drs!
Thanks for the suggestions for hw bottles - going out shortly so have a list of places to try:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I've been window shopping this morning at Asda direct and they have some lovely hot water bottles with covers, I don't know if that would be any good for you. They start at £1.50 but out of stock on line
