For anyone needing fleeces (to wear not for curtains/throws etc), if you have a Go*outdoors near you, pop in for a look
They're selling some (presumably summer but they're fleeces!) stock off and I got a lovely emerald green fleece & raspberry fleece for £10 last week.
Today, I went one better and managed to get another (slightly different!) raspberry fleece for £4.97 and .... wait for it ..... a bodywarmer (identical colour to the emerald fleece:j) for £3.97!
Sure they're not hugely thick but for adding layers under coats or sitting around in the house in the evening - pretty good bargains!
And they should dry pretty quickly which is always a bonus in winter:)
PS they have a discount card that costs £5 / year but you do get a fair bit off the standard prices (even those are good TBH) - eg when I got mine, I saved more than the £5 off the 2 fleeces I bought!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250

I looked like the Michelin Man (for those who are old enough to remember him, those who don't he's a pile of rubber tyres!).
I remember him and im not all that old-is he not around any more!?
Im off to ikea again tomorrow-long story, I dont normally go twice in one week  - but I must resist buying another of their fleeces and only order the one thing that wasn't in stock before. .... but then at that price can you have too many fleeces?Simplify and then Simplify some more!0 -
I'm home alone today, kiddies with inlaws, so I'm on a mission. House will be tidied and wiped throughout, then I have some garden stuff to do, including the loppers for the front tree - was going to wait till autumn but I figure if I do it now I will be able to shape it better whilst its in leaf, plus there will be fewer leaves to sweep later
Got two kiddies brollies earlier, Mickey and Minnie, will stash them for Xmas unless we end up playing out in the rain before then
I also got some totes toasties for me (reduced) and in home bargains, they had a big plastic boot tray - perfect for my porch in winter - we have hard flooring and always end up with puddles from boots. Was just £1.99 and its big enough for 3-4 pairs adult shoes - will easily fit mine and the kids!Bossymoo

..... I think I have a fleece buying addiction
..... only the one this time tho:D
I will keep an eye out for lidl/aldis snow boots as they have been mentioned on here quite a lot and we both walk to and from work 30 mins each way and my toes were too cold in my wellies last year.Simplify and then Simplify some more!0 -
i managed to pick up a whopper of a hot water bottle at our local market from one of the boot sale stalls for just 50p on thursday
it has a fleece cover with a velcro closure at the top, it's too tight to take it off so i'll deal with the high school musical motif at that price. i've used it quite a few times and it's in perfect condition, wonderful!
i also found something i think will help me with my window / curtain issues, but i'll wait til i've finished sorting out the curtains for them and test it before i report back, keep your fingers crossed for me, it looks good and was cheap!
i hope all is well for everyone0 -
Whoopeedoo! Delighted to report that I have just found a pair of Yaktrax for £1 at the local car boot: unused and still in box. Happy days!!0

.... I think I have a fleece buying addiction
I think I have too. The shops aren't silly are they - all those lovely soft fluffy blankets in beautiful pinks and blues, who can resist!:)0 -
Hello
I love this thread and read but don't often post. My preparing for winter is underway. I love to give the house a really good clean as Autumn approaches and this is well underway.
My older boys, late teens, don't own wellingtons (their choice) but when the snow falls they use/argue over DH's much to his annoyance. This year we are buying them both a pair. The same happens with gloves, so we will be going to get a couple of "extra" pairs. They are both the same size as DH so trying on won't be a problem.
We need to stock up on grit as soon as it's in the shops, we have a very steep drive and a single track road at the back of the house which is not gritted/cleared unless we do it. Will also get a couple more snow shovels.
I like to keep the food stocks up as it can be difficult to get to the shops (lots to feed here) I always make sure I have bread flour in, as well as loaves in the freezer.
The car is topped up with petrol as soon as it is half full.
I buy toiletries/toothpaste etc when on offer so usually have a good supply in, the same for cleaning/laundry products.
Look forward to reading and picking up more tips for an organised and prepared for winter.
