Well I am half way though my first NSD. It is easy to resist temptation when I am at home all day
I am glad I went for coffee with my friend yesterday it was only a very small spend for a very good friend. I think I need to be more organised this challenge is really making me think as does my spending diary.
Thanks everyone P0lly xJBFF # 20 NSD 12/25

Well done p0lly, stay strong, you can do it:j:j
For all the newbies
Beanie has given you all some good advice.
My aim when starting on the path of NSD challenges some (nearly) 3 years ago was to cut down on the unnecessary spends - the "I'm just popping into Tatco to get a pint of milk, get some lunch, get something for tea tonight because I forgot[STRIKE]couldn't be ar*ed[/STRIKE] to get something out of the freeezer this morning" type of spend which happened far too often and ended up costing at the minimum £10. Since I've started thinking ahead about grocery, and every other type of, shopping and not popping out to get a pint of milk, my spending has reduced dramatically and I'm nearly DF.
Milk freezes well and, if you put it on the hob (unlit, obviously:D), it defrosts remarkably quickly - something to do with conductivity:huh: according to my engineer OH - as does bread. so maybe think about freezing some if that's the type of thing you run out of. In my experience (as above) going into a shop for a pint of milk and bread means coming out with much more.
Bus fares are, IMO, a necessary spend if you don't have a car, so there's not much you can do about that. Maybe allocate some money once a week/month to that "pot" and, unless you exceed that, don't count it as a spend.
Hope that helps.

Solventsoon gives some really good advice ^ about milk. I've found this last week or so that quite a few potential NSD's have been ruined because I've run out of milk.
I think I will now buy 2 or 3 at a time, freezing those I don't need straightaway, and that should save 2 or 3 NSD's a month.Plus it doesn't really mess with my monthly grocery budget because I'd still be buying the milk at some point during the month.

Finally checking in with NSD #1. Don't expect me back until Monday though because tomorrow I'm off to Ikea to get some new saucepans and Sunday will be my traditional yellow sticker hunt in Mr M!
Good idea on freezing milk! I think a few of my NSD's will be spoilt by having to shop for incidentals so might give this a try. Have also considered buying some longlife stuff but not sure if it tastes the same.2015 Wins

Yeah, I've considered that in the past but have been put off by the thought that it might not taste the same. That being said, you don't know until you try, so I think I might grab one carton next time I'm out and give it a go.Because it's fun to have money!

Hi ladies
I am loving all the Friday celebrations, it's amazing how dancing penguins and elephants give you that feel good feeling.
I am happy to report NSD 3 :j
It's weekly shopping day tomorrow and DD is home from uni for the night tomorrow, so we are going out for dinner, so the purse will probably take a bit of a battering this weekend. So will need to be good next week and will be aiming for 4 NSD next week.
Hope you all have a good weekend and happy Friday to all. :beer:Well Behaved women seldom make history

Well I have done it NSD 1 only 9 to go. Thank you for all your advice. I have read all the way through this thread now. Some great ideas. I have decided I will put aside money on one day a week for all my expenses. I am going to try for another NSD tomorrow I have some catching up to do. P0lly xJBFF # 20 NSD 12/25
