    Oh no Looby.

Funny enough my daughter chipped her front tooth the other week too but only at the corner so it's not impeding her in anyway.

She was really lucky was told she'd need braces for at least two years but they were off in one.

I can tell when she hasn't been bothering with her retainer though!

Anyway don't worry I appreciated that was just a snap shot of her diet and you would have been ripped to pieces if you knew exactly what she was eating at every single meal and then posted it!:rotfl:

I think it's great that she is managing so well.

Chameleon I have already stated that the amount my daughter has been spending on food shopping varies from week to week but due to this thread we have been tracking the amount she spends and so far it has averaged out at £18.11 per week but she too might spend £30 one week nothing the next then £24 nothing for ten days etc etc.:)

Oh of course, I completely agree! (now, there's a thing :D ) it's incredibly easy to fill yourself full of junk and spend vast fortunes doing so, hence the growing obesity epidemic we have in this country ;)

If I was to go in the supermarket and buy all ready meals, pre-prepared fruit & veg, stacks of cakes, biscuits, sweets, crisps, fizzy drinks etc I'm sure I wouldn't get much change out of £100 for a week's supply!! Shocking, isn't it!

    It is indeed.

And, going back to an earlier point I made in this thread, many students would spend their food budget in exactly that way if they had enough to play around with.

I don't know what to say to that - since you're 22 and live in your mum's backroom....:) Seriously, I don't know why everyone isn't taking your advice....

Just to correct you on my situation. I am 24. I own a flat (albeit mortgaged) and I am almost a HRT, next step getting that wife and kids. So actually I am doing pretty well for myself and yes, people should be taking my advice. I spent a lot of time learning so I can help other people out. :)

I found that it changes over the years, first year a lot of ready meals then second and third you "experiment". Well usually this anyway, obviously there are exceptions to the rule!

    Sorry, what's an HRT?

(At my age it stands for Hormone Replacement Therapy.:o)

Higher Rate Tax payer. Bit showy off, but need to make sure other students they don't have to be a 3 A* A Level Student at Oxbridge to earn some decent money!

My son is starting university this weekend.

I have budgetted for £65 per week for him , after the halls are paid for

    I'm thinking:
    £25 food
    £15 entertainment
    £10 books / stationery
£2 mobile £4 travel £3 clothes £4 christmas and birthday presents for family

I'd appreciate comments please - its a balance between giving him enough money to have some fun, without leaving us ans the other two kids too skint to do anything. Also second son will go next year and we'll need to find twice as much.

You should sit down with him and do a spreadsheet of in goings and out goings so he can learn the value of money. It was one of the best things my dad ever did with me. After a term or two leave him to budget his own finances and see how he copes. He is going to learn to budget for himself for when he hits the real world outside of Uni :)

wow she's brave, I have never managed yet to make a white sauce yet that hasn't been more lumps than sauce :o

I've just waved my daughter off after a lovely lovely long weekend (of doing her washing lol) as I said it's probably the last time she'll be home before christmas so I made the most of it. I think we've both got jaw ache from the amount of talking we've done this weekend lol

On the plus side her boyfriend is taking her back so she's taken some of her essential [strike]clutter[/strike] stuff with her ;)

So much easier to buy the lasagne white sauce from dolmio! I have been told off by people at work for buying it instead of making it myself though haha.
