Fuming at OH...

My O/H makes a sandwich and leaves the kitchen looking like a bomb's hit it.

Leaves the fridge door and cutlery drawer open, the bread out on the worktop, the knife stuck in the butter, crumbs all over the place and wanders through the living room eating it without bothering with a plate...!

The only use I can think of for my OH is getting rid of the big spiders. Everything else I can manage on my own. He's not even that great with the spiders.... usually spends ages farting around taking a picture of it (why?!?) and then it runs away.

Women certainly have their uses. Paramour spent the afternoon trying to fix his bike, and had to give up. Showed me what to do the next time I visited him, and I got it done in under 10 minutes, as his fingers couldn't quite fit in the space to do the job, but mine could!

My motto "if you want it done right, DIY" so I mostly do and OH would try, break it then I would have to sort it out.

He appeared to be the only person who did not know that the washing machine door stays locked for a bit after the cycle finishes- so he managed to rip the door handle off trying to open it (the one time he tried to do washing) so he is not allowed to touch it at all. Planned I hear you say, but really wasn't.

The other excuse for not doing things is that he will just do it wrong and hence didn't even try eg putting washing away, tidying up etc. But I have tried to enforce that it is better to try than not to, or offer to help even though he suspects I will turn it down as that gets you further than sitting on your a*se on the ipad!

Also left the freezer door open once so it all defrosted then refroze, always leaves lights/appliances on when not needed and constantly will put the heating on instead of a jumper.

Benefits of having him around-lifting heavy items (although only at the moment due to me being 8 months pregnant), cooking (I don't like cooking) and I try and got him to mow the lawn (but I do this too).

Ahh - thank you all for the tales of 'nice but dim' OH's. Nice to know mine's not alone in being a muppet.....

(working out suitable punishment - at the moment it stands at making him see the damage in daylight and then him installing a new tap - but have a feeling that lizziebell*80's ethos of DIY might be better as he'll probably mess it up)

He still has yet to put a spotlight back in the ceiling three weeks after I asked him to do it as I couldn't reach after taking it down to change the bulb! *sigh*

Evidently I am the only one who thinks that men are intellectually superior then. After all, I have just read a huge list of jobs they are incapable of doing, meaning the lady of the house does it herself to make sure its done properly. I don't know why we ladies didn't think of it first....those men...... Smart......like cats!

I don't think all men are like the ones described. I do think that the ones who act like the ones described should be gently "set free" again.
