turned down by Tesco, Sainsbury's, M&S, the well known ones so far

If you have been turned down by them id stop applying like now, turn the pc off and forget about a loan, I bet your credit rating has taken a battering.

Thanks for your advice. How hard a battering do you think? If I hold off a few months and then try the not so high street lenders do you think I'd be in for a chance? I am pretty desperate to get these things.

The things are for the car so it would defeat the purpose selling the car.

Best advice would be not to apply for any new credit for anything for at least 6months.

But if your circumstances haven't changed (still the same earnings and similar level of debt) you still are very unlikely to get a loan for the amount you want, even from the 'not so high street lenders'.
Because you will fail based on affordability - they won't think that you can afford to service your existing £9k debt, your basic living costs and to repay a new loan on top.

Check your credit file, that will tell you what its like, you usually dont make 3 applications in 1 day as it shows lenders your desperate.

Isn't there anywhere I could try?

Money Shop do loans of up to £2000 but as we say up here in the North East 'They'll rip your eyeballs out'

It will depend what the money is being used to buy, if it was for a car for example the finance wouldn't be as difficult get. The personal loan option is a lot more difficult and with £4k on CC's doesn't sound like you can afford to have any more finance with £900/month salary

You need £3K for things for your car which is worth £3500 ? Give your head a shake lad.
