Must be 17. Otherwise it wasn't a British driving test.

People in receipt of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (at the higher rate only) can take driving tests at age 16.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that for an invalid carriage only? Sorry if that isn't the correct term these days, but that's what it said on my driving licence

:rotfl:nope, normal car. With whatever entitlements your average 17 year old can get. Not sure what 'class' the 'normal' licence is, but cars, minibuses, tranny vans, etc.

Things may have changed over the years, but this has been the case for at least 14 years now. Went to school (I'm 30) with a lad who had severe mobility issues, and he passed and drove at 16. He used to roll up at school in a brand new Volkswagen, and park alonsgide the teachers. I'm also acquianted with a young lady who's in the same situation - just turned 16, already selected and collected her Motability car (mum drives it at the moment), is learning to drive, and can theoretically hit the road any day now. She's also still in school.

Well you learn something new every day :T

I suppose this probably did replace the old invalid carriage age limit, as you don't see those around any more.
