So anyone with a lifetime award can just forget they ever had one, then?
I had an indefinite award, but, even with those, the DWP can review your case at any time.
As with all claims, should things improve, the onus is on the claimant to inform DWP of changes. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -

But if nothing does improve - or worsens - the lifetime award still isn't cast in stone?
I don't think it is, zaksmum. Anyone can be called up at any time to check their entitlement.Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -

Glasgow City Centre. On-Street parking FREE of charge to blue badge holders ALL day. 60p per 15 minutes for non Blue Badge Users.
Council / Private Car Parks (Multi Stories) - Dedicated disability Spaces right at lifts etc - More often than not EMPTY. Because they are not free perhaps?
Seems having a blue badge is a great away to avoid commuting on public transport, having the car comfortably outside the office and best of all FREE.
So i ask why does a blue badge owner automatically get free parking in prime locations whereas every one else forks out up to £20 a day. I can understand selected bays in key locations for genuine usage, but every on-street parking space in the city centre? That's about £4000 a year per space.
All this on top of an any mobility cars with their free tax, servicing and what not - I can see why you start to get nervous when people comment. Would be financially broken if you had to pay for parking, servicing, tax and indeed the car itself like Joe Public.
PS - These are my Opinions which i am entitled too. Not getting into a war, but thread is entitled "This Sort Of Thing Annoys Non Disabled People". This annoys me. I'm happy now i have it off my chest.0 -
take that up with your mp/local council. in our town (& the vast majority of others I visit) disabled people have large parking bays to accomodate wheelchairs etc, closest to the shops to aid their mobility but they pay just the same as everyone else.0

Glasgow has 2640 controlled parking bays, FOI request revealed that an average of 960 were occupied by Blue Badge holders, of which only 14 were reported. The police did not reveal what the 14 were reported for but its a fair assumption that they drove Range Rovers or a shiny Porche and were able to afford the £2000 'back hander' for the 'fiddley' Blue Badge.
The new BB rules which came into force this year will eventually make it very easy to weed out the cheats, in fact instantly weed out the cheats by 'on the spot' confiscation of the badge followed by either an appeal, suspension, or a fine and revocation. This will :
- take another two years to roll out because BB are issued each 3rd year
- anyone guilty, including a complicit legal BB holder should have the badge revoked forever, no exceptions
As for the rest of your whining discriminatory pop at the disabled perhaps you'd like it if we did a rewind [retro] of a about 60 years when society excluded segregated and institutionalised them in the workhouse when they are passed school age, but kept them 'out~of~sight in 'special schools' away from normal healthy young people. Yeh .. .. that's best just in case these dirty disabled people infect our children !
Disabled people already encounter massive daily discrimination and do not even have the same basic human rights as non-disabled people :
- parents of disabled children do not have the right to send their child to local schools
- employers can discriminate openly against disabled workers
- some disabled people don't even have the right to choose when to get out of bed in the morning
- some disabled people can't choose when to go out / come home / drink tea / go to the loo
Our culture is full of disablist language and imagery which keeps the traditional fears and prejudices which surround impairment alive constantly amplified by people like yourself an others.
The mere act of living and functioning / existing as a disabled member of society employed or otherwise costs substantially more than a non disabled. See the DWP's own stats [ the real stats before they gerrymander them for the Sun and the Daily Star] for reasons .. .. and stop reading the redtops.
PS - These are my Opinions which I am entitled too - Have a nice day retro.kid.

Many disabled people simply cannot use public transport and whilst a car for many will be a luxury, for a high proportion of the disabled it is a necessity.Glasgow City Centre. On-Street parking FREE of charge to blue badge holders ALL day. 60p per 15 minutes for non Blue Badge Users.

For example I cannot currently use public transport from my home into work. It takes 2 buses to get to work, over an hour and a half, I can't sit for that long, thats if I can get a seat. I can't stand for more than a few minutes. Even with a seat designated for the disabled they are cramped and there is no way for me to sit comfortable which involves leaving my leg sticking out therefore causing a trip hazard.
So for now my car is essential. It's not a motability car it's a 10 year old Punto. I choose to spend MY disability money on other items to help me to control my disability and allow myself a little bit of normality.
On a bus it would cost me £50 a month. In the car it currently costs me about £130 a month in petrol. I am £80 worse off because I cannot use public transport, even with a free parking space.
If you are so bothered about being able to have free parking, go and injure yourself sufficiently to be able to claim disability. I'm sure you'll find it's not the picnic you seem to think it is.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

As expected the one sided, Us vs Them attitude.
Not once did i say the disabled cannot use their cars. Not once did i have a pop at the disabled. Not once did i criticise the disabled.
Perhaps the straw that broke the camels post was watching the lady earlier this morning walk up West Regent Street with 5 Argos bags, plump them in the boot, remove the blue badge and off she went. Clearly abusing the system.
I have worked in Glasgow for 12 years and only once seen wardens, with police presence checking badges. That was a great day. During one lunch hour, we witnessed four badges getting confiscated.
To make it clear, i do not have a problem with the disabled person - what i do have a problem with is the abuse of free blue badge parking - which if you take off blinkers - affects non disabled and genuine disabled persons.
Let's see more spot checks and stricter issuing of badges. Where genuine, they are essential to those that need them and i do not have a problem with that.0 -
WOW, I've just read this thread, no wonder the Conservatives are so chuffed. There will be public hanging next.
I was really pleased to get my new rollator this morning, after my two year old one broke. I used my lower rate care DLA to pay for it but it did not quite cover the cost, so I had to use some of my war pension as well.
Disabled out of the army after 17 yrs, 42 yrs old with gd 4 osteoathritis, require new left knee but to young (according to NHS) and an MS sufferer. Feel a bit bad about the tax payer paying towards me walking to pick my young children up from school.
Just thinking should I send it back and rely on social services to deal with the children?. Suggestions please on a post card.Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74
