I gave up on applying for a Child account. Applied online, website says if you have your passport handy you won't need to provide ID. Got to the end of the application, asked to provide ID. Dropped it into the branch, get a text message the next week: please bring in your ID. Called the helpline, get told it must still be at the branch. Called the branch; no, we don't have it. It must be in transit. No such luck. Next week, another text. Call centre blame the branch; branch blame the call centre; no resolution offered. Bring ID into the branch again, "oh I have your ID it's here in my drawer. I'll get the person who does the ID to send it off for you". Next day I get a call from the branch; "I can't send your ID off because this microscopic formatting difference between your ID and your address as on your application which we populated for you using PAF means I can't be certain the address is correct. I'll need to re key it for you". B******s to that mate I'm not having 2 searches on my file. So I posted my ID myself, unfortunately due to Christmas post the app expired. Total shambles from start to finish. As nice as the cheque book is, it's not that nice!

i've found that RBS are not too bad, but getting anyone to recognise/understand Child & Co is impossible. i'm going to call into the branch when i can.
  • Has anyone been given a C&C card recently, there is some confusion over who gets one and who does not.

Can I ask anyone who has had one if they live in London?

As per other thread, I have been sent RBS-branded cards..
But in know that other people have received C&C cards in the last 12weeks..since I've been told they no longer issue them:(
  • I am curious to see if there is any sort of patten. I have applied for an account so will see what they send me. I don't have much hope.
  • RBS are still issuing Child & Co branded debit cards.

It is determined by your credit reports & RBS internal credit scoring as to if you get the RBS branded card or the Child & Co Branded card.

The Child & Co branded card is an 'offline' card. It is known to by RBS staff sometimes as a 'highline' card or contactless credit check card.

Offline means that the card can be used at point of sale terminals without the need to contact the merchants authorisation service. This means the card can be used on airplanes, boats and petrol stations.

does anyone have a Contactless Child & Co care? are they issuing these now, or going to be?

I have a C&C card issued 05/15 and no contactless yet. I think if they were going to make it a contactless card, they would have done it before now. I wonder who is in charge of Child & Co decisions, such as card design and contactless since C&C are just RBS.

Also I recently opened a RBS account at Drummond branch and they issued me with a contactless RBS card (still waiting on the cheque book) no idea why they issue C&C branded cards and not Drummond branded ones.
