They do issue branded debit cards (non contactless only for now) but they are just for their actual private clients. They want to maintain the brand exclusivity due to historical (royal patronage) and current (lottery millionaires) reasons.

If that is the case, it doesn't make sense why they'll still issue a Drummonds chequebook to us plebs but not the debit card.
  • also now Apple Pay compatible :)
  • Got a screenshot of the card image in the Apple Pay Wallet please?

It was Apple Pay compatible even before they ever issued the contactless card as covered in early posts in this thread
  • not in my experience. I tried adding mine before I got a contactless one and it didn't work.

Agree -my previous debit card was used by me in March this year via Apple Pay. This has reminded me to delete it and install my new debit card.

Child cards have been compatible with Apple Pay for some time, long before they issued contactless cards.

I can't tell from that photo, are the cheques giant like business cheques? I have the Childs 60 page version.

Im still complexed as to why Child issue cards to non-private clients and Drummond's do not. Both brands are brands in their own right and could really be built up compared to what they are now. I assume the decision has been taken to allow non-pirate clients to hold Child cards, I am curious to know the reason. I still prefer the Childs brand over Drummond's. Many people know of Drummond's, but Childs, no one has hardly heard of the place.

On another note, I was called to Child branch (did not attend). My wage is no where near private requirements, so that theory that they only contact you if you have money, goes out of the window.

I to will be going back to Childs for my primary account now they have the contactless cards, hopefully one day I will be able to match the private requirements. I have had problems after moving to my new bank, so am happy to return to RBS/Childs.

Yes, the Drummonds chequebook is the larger size cheques.

I have two Child current accounts. One has the normal size chequebook (with Premium Account written on the cheques) and one is the larger size cheques like Drummonds (without Premium Account written on the cheques).

    Not sure why!!!
  • I've got Child cheques in normal size without premium account on.
