Boo hiss, my box ain't updated yet!
I even have it on the Multi-room box (from today, it seems).

Very impressive I have to say, Sky has finally caught up with cable in providing a quality on demand service.

Looks like I'll never fill up the hard drive on my 1TB box!

The only thing I have reservations about is that the "Showcase" section still mixes pay-per-views together with the freely available material.

I think Box Office should remain a separate entity.

Arrrrghhh! I hate being last in the queue. Might try a forced upgrade later. :D

:D:D Well that worked, On Demand now up and running, downloaded Martins ITV show from the ITV Player, will watch later.
Sky have kept the same look and feel for the On Demand service which is nice.

For those interested a forced upgrade is performed by unplugging the Sky box for a few minutes then plugging it back in whilst holding down the back up button on the Sky box.
All the LEDs on the front will light and there is a message on the screen advising the process will take 10 minutes.
When it completes the box goes back into Standby.

Actually, you don't have to unplug at the wall socket if you first put the box into full standby. Hold down the power button on the box until the light turns from green to orange to red. When red light is on, perform as described but without unplugging.
Do be aware that turning the box to full standby prevents the box from recording, so ensure you haven't left the box in this mode if you have scheduled recordings for when you are out.
  • My box doesnt appear to have updated yet. It says 'on demand' but when I go to that option it just shows the list of programmes as it did before. I did a forced update but its made no difference.

    Am I do something wrong?

If you are seeing on demand then you are running the latest software.
Have you enabled Anytime plus/On Demand on the Sky website?
Is your router connected to your Sky + HD box?

Try going into the settings on the Sky Box and select "Network". If the local connection is showing "fail", try pushing the red button to re-set. Try it more than once if necessary.
Otherwise, as penrhyn says check your router and or homeplugs etc are connected to both the Sky Box and the internet.
    How fast is your broadband?

Thanks Penrhyn & Moneyineptitude. Oh I am a silly billy, I've not had it plugged into the router, no wonder it doesnt work! Will try it out when I get home.

Broadband is approx. 4 meg so hopefully that will be enough. Thanks again for your replies.

Remember you have to activate the service on line. Slow BB is not too much of a problem as programmes are not streamed, they are downloaded to your hard drive, slow just takes a bit longer.

  • Hope you don't mind me resurrecting this thread.
I will be buying homeplugs so that I can use the on demand features with Sky.
    Are these ok please?
